Okay, so LEGO just dropped the instructions for building the Kanto Gym Badges! Originally, you could only get these if you bought a bigger LEGO set earlier this year. But now, awesome news – they’re letting us build it ourselves using bricks we already have. Seriously, I’m hyped to finally add these to my collection!
In 2025, LEGO and Pokémon teamed up for the first time. The first LEGO Pokémon sets arrived in March 2026, featuring builds of Eevee, Pikachu with a Poké Ball, and Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. The largest set, featuring the three powerful Pokémon, cost $649.99 and included a free, limited-edition LEGO Kanto Gym Badge Collection. Many fans were upset that the gym badge set (number 40892) wouldn’t be available separately, even if the larger Pokémon set was restocked. However, LEGO has now made the official building instructions for the gym badge set publicly available.
LEGO Releases Official Build Instructions for Pokemon Kanto Gym Badges Set
LEGO has released official building instructions for a Pokémon Kanto Region Badge set, letting fans add it to their collections. The set, detailed in an 80-page manual, uses 312 LEGO pieces to recreate the classic badges. The finished model is a box that opens and closes, showcasing all eight Pokémon Kanto Gym Badges. Builders can use LEGO bricks they already have, or purchase any missing pieces separately.
The instructions show you how to add stickers to the Gym Badges to make them look more like the versions from the anime and video games. While these stickers might have been included in the original set, the badges still look very good without them. Plus, the official building instructions are available for free, which is a great alternative to buying the original LEGO set. Unfortunately, people are reselling all the LEGO Pokémon sets for much higher prices. For instance, the Kanto Region Badge Collection was listed for $250, and the Kanto starter set was being sold for as much as $1,000.
Before LEGO officially released instructions for the Pokémon set, fans had already started building it themselves. In February, someone shared an unofficial guide for the Kanto Gym Badges online, letting other builders create the set early. It will be fun to see how fans modify LEGO’s official instructions to personalize their Pokémon creations.

In addition to the Kanto Gym Badge set, LEGO released a Mini Pokemon Center exclusively for LEGO Insider members. It’s currently unknown if LEGO will publish the building instructions for that set. LEGO is planning to announce more Pokemon sets throughout 2026 to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary. A recent leak suggests the first Pokemon trainer minifigure is coming as part of this collaboration. Rumors also point to future sets featuring a battle between Cubone and Gengar, an Eeveelution build, and a Mewtwo Lab.
