How to Level Up Crafting Stations in Windrose

In Windrose, upgrading your crafting stations works differently than in many other games. You won’t just click a button to improve them. Instead, you’ll need to build extra structures near the station you want to upgrade – a system becoming popular in survival and crafting games. This means you’ll need to carefully plan your base layout, ensuring you have enough space and resources to expand your crafting areas.

Leveling Up Crafting Benches in Windrose

Okay, so crafting stations need extra bits to upgrade. Like, if I want to level up my Workbench in Windrose, I have to build a Sawhorse first. It’s similar to how it works in Valheim, but what’s neat about Windrose is I don’t have to build the add-ons right next to the station I’m upgrading. As long as they’re within range of the same Bonfire – that’s what I’ve found with the Workbench, anyway – it works perfectly!

Here are the add-ons you need to build for specific crafting stations:

Station Add-on
Workbench Sawhorse Tool Shelf Toolbox
Weaponsmith Workshop Anvil Bellows Water Barrel
Armor and Clothing Workshop Material Rack Shoemaker’s Bench Try-on Mannequin
Cooking Fire Cutting Table Cookware Shelf Supplies Rack
Alchemy Table Reagent Table Distiller Stove and Pot
Jewelry Table Jewelry Cabinet Jeweller’s Bench

As you play, you’ll learn how to make these items through quests or by finding recipes while exploring. To fully upgrade a crafting station in Windrose, you need to build one of each available add-on building near that station (within the same Bonfire). Building multiple of the same add-on won’t provide any extra benefit and will just use up your materials.

Why Upgrade Crafting Benches?

To make many of the better items, you’ll need to upgrade your crafting stations first. For example, the Sailor Backpack, which increases your inventory space in Windrose, requires you to craft a Torn Sailcloth Bag and then upgrade your Workbench with a Sawhorse. This pattern continues with a lot of other equipment, so remember to improve your workstations whenever you have time, between adventures!

Keep in mind that adding just one building upgrade can impact several crafting stations, as long as they work with that upgrade. For example, a single Sawhorse can improve multiple Workbenches. However, the Sawhorse only benefits Workbenches, so it won’t affect any other crafting station.
