Key Reminder for Wikipedia to Buy Bitcoin Issued by Samson Mow

As a seasoned crypto investor with a knack for foresight, I can’t help but agree with Samson Mow’s persistent advice to Wikipedia. If only they had heeded his call and invested in Bitcoin years ago, they wouldn’t be chasing donations annually like a digital game of Whac-A-Mole.

Samson Mow, a vocal Bitcoin supporter who serves as CEO at JAN3, recently suggested on his Twitter account that Wikipedia consider purchasing a large amount of Bitcoin (BTC).

Mow shared an image showing the fundraising appeal that Wikipedia sent out to numerous users, asking for a donation amounting to about $2.75 each.

Mow tweeted that while they are sending him an annual donation reminder, he sent them his “annual reminder to buy Bitcoin.” In the tweet, he tagged the X accounts of Wikipedia and its founder Jimmy Wales.

“I’ve noticed the annual donation request from you, so I thought it would be appropriate to remind you about investing in Bitcoin annually as well. @Wikipedia @jimmy_wales

Last December, around a year back, Mow referenced a tweet he’d made earlier – from late 2023. In that original post, Mow suggested that if Wikipedia had invested in Bitcoin as recommended by him, they wouldn’t need to continuously solicit donations annually, as they do now.

Last December, Jimmy Wales, the creator of Wikipedia, criticized Bitcoin in a tweet, stating that you can’t forget the password to a bank account and thus lose all your money as could happen with a Bitcoin wallet. He said, “Banks work, but bitcoin doesn’t.” This statement sparked responses from various members and influencers within the cryptocurrency community. One of these was Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino, who predicted that in the future, Wikipedia might be replaced by a decentralized alternative.

Previously, Wikipedia had ceased accepting donations in Bitcoin, a practice it had happily engaged in for several years prior.
