Lots of popular isekai manga—stories about people transported to another world—are now being made into anime. We’re seeing adaptations like Re: Monster, featuring a very powerful goblin, and The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System, which is scheduled to air in the summer of 2026. More and more of these manga are getting the anime treatment.
Even with the constant stream of isekai anime, a lot of popular isekai manga haven’t been adapted yet. There are many great stories – from characters who enjoy cooking in new worlds using special skills, to creative takes on the isekai formula – that are still only available in manga form.
Karate Survivor in Another World
- Release Date: May 27, 2019
- Theme: Martial Arts, Survival Isekai
As is often the case, Hitoshi is transported to a new world in Karate Survivor in Another World thanks to a run-in with a truck. Once he arrives, he learns from a somewhat reluctant God—who bears a striking resemblance to Ymir Fritz from Attack on Titan—that he won’t be receiving any special abilities to help him along the way.
Hitoshi wasn’t reborn into a new body, but instead woke up looking exactly as he always had, still possessing his karate skills. He found himself naked and lost in a dangerous forest, marking the start of his struggle to survive in this new world. Unlike many other stories in this genre with powerful heroes, Karate Survivor in Another World features Hitoshi, an average man who can only improve his karate abilities. Relying on his limited survival knowledge, he does his best to adjust to this strange, new environment.

- Release Date: July 26, 2022
- Theme: Seinen Isekai, Multiple Fantasy Worlds
This popular manga follows Ed, a mercenary who keeps getting kicked out of the Hero’s Party. But instead of being stuck, Ed has a unique ability: he can jump to a completely different fantasy world each time it happens, essentially starting over in a new adventure.
Ed has lived through a hundred different fantasy worlds, joining hero groups each time only to be kicked out. As a result of his adventures, he’s learned a hundred unique skills. But despite surviving all this, he can’t go back to his original world. Instead, a god gives him a strange key that lets him revisit the worlds he’s already been to. This manga about being transported to other worlds has been popular with readers, who particularly like Ed – he’s a relatable character who’s fun-loving but also surprisingly complex when the situation demands it.
Samurai In Another World
- Release Date: February 22, 2023
- Theme: Samurai Isekai
Unlike many stories in the isekai genre that begin with a character’s death, Isekai Samurai centers around a woman who is inexplicably immortal. Ginko Tsukitsuba desperately wants to die a noble death in battle, but no matter what happens, she survives. To make matters worse, she’s even lost the opportunity to die in the place she always envisioned, leaving her feeling incredibly frustrated and hopeless.
Just when Ginko had given up, she made a desperate wish to the Buddha for a new life – one in a world filled with dangerous, man-eating monsters. Surprisingly, her wish was granted, and she found herself in a fantastical realm populated by creatures like orcs and treants. Now, the question is whether she can finally find the peaceful death she desires, or if she’s destined to keep struggling.
A Veterinarian in Another World
- Release Date: May 10, 2016
- Theme: Profession Isekai, Medical
The kingdoms of the South, East, North, and West are thrown into chaos, and a vet from our world is the only one who can restore balance. In the manga A Veterinarian in Another World, Shingo Kazami is unexpectedly transported to a fantasy realm to use his skills to heal the crown prince and combat everything from common illnesses to dangerous curses and dark magic.
I never would have guessed a vet could end up as a major character in a fantasy story, but honestly, in the isekai world, anything goes. It seems like any job, even being a veterinarian, can be useful when you’re transported to another world.

Dungeon Seeker
- Release Date: May 19, 2016
- Theme: Revenge Isekai, Weak to OP Main Character
Junpei is driven by a desire for revenge in the isekai manga, Dungeon Seeker. While the manga relies on familiar isekai themes, Junpei’s story remains compelling for many readers. Dungeon Seeker is also known for its intense violence and graphic imagery, which makes Junpei’s challenges feel even more desperate and impactful.
In Dungeon Seeker, high school student Junpei Takeda, along with his friend Noriko and rival Kido, are unexpectedly transported to another world by its bored creator. After arriving, Junpei discovers that Noriko and Kido have betrayed him, leading to his imprisonment in the dangerous Sacrificial Labyrinth, a place filled with terrible misfortune. Luckily, Junpei possesses a valuable ability: he can steal skills from defeated enemies. Despite being relatively weak, he must find the strength to overcome the challenges ahead and battle his way through.
When a Clueless First-Person Shooter Player Falls into Another World
- Release Date: February 9, 2016
- Theme: Video Game Isekai, Guns
As a huge isekai fan, I have to say this manga really stands out! The art is just so clean and easy on the eyes – you never feel lost during action scenes or when characters are just chatting. But what really grabbed me was the unique premise. We’ve seen a lot of isekai stories, but a gifted FPS player getting transported to another world? That’s a fresh idea I haven’t really seen explored before, and it’s done really well!
Schwarz gets stuck inside “Virtual Reality Multiple Battlefield,” a super-advanced VR game, after a glitch causes him to fall out of the game’s map and he can’t log out. He quickly realizes his body is now trapped in a medieval world of swords and magic. Luckily, he still has his gun, and as an expert FPS player, he can switch between different weapons – from historical firearms to weapons from the future – as he begins his adventure.
The Reincarnated Evil Dragon
- Release Date: August 24, 2016
- Theme: Reincarnation Isekai
No list of popular isekai would be complete without mentioning “The Reincarnated Evil Dragon.” This series follows a typical office worker who dies and is reborn as an incredibly powerful dragon. His death is shown as a funny, quick scene, immediately setting the manga’s cheerful and comedic mood.
Ev’s transformation into a dragon turned out to be a surprisingly good thing. He’s free from work and unbelievably strong – powerful enough to defeat the Demon Lord with a single attack! Now that the manga series, The Reincarnated Evil Dragon, is finished, fans can quickly read all 48 chapters before a potential anime adaptation is announced. It’s a short and satisfying read.
