Key Takeaways
- No crew in One Piece has dreams like the Straw Hats, each with specific, difficult dreams.
- Some Straw Hat dreams, like Brooks, are easier to accomplish, while others, like Nami’s, are incredibly difficult.
- Nami’s goal of mapping the entire world in One Piece is arguably the most challenging dream of the Straw Hat crew.
As a long-time fan of One Piece and someone who has been sailing the Grand Line alongside Luffy and his motley crew for over two decades, I can confidently say that no group of pirates has dreams quite like the Straw Hats. Each member’s dream is unique, challenging, and worthy of admiration.
At its heart, “One Piece” revolves around the theme of dreams. Every character, from the most minor to the main protagonist himself, harbors a dream. These dreams can vary in size, from the achievable to the seemingly impossible, or sometimes they are dreams that were abandoned years ago. The epoch of the Great Pirates in “One Piece” is brimming with individuals who cherish their dreams.
In the world of “One Piece,” no other crew shares the same level of ambitious dreams as the Straw Hat Pirates. Each member harbors a unique and exceptionally tough goal that they would sacrifice everything for. While each dream presents its own set of challenges, some aspirations of the Straw Hats are significantly more arduous than others.
Each Straw Hat’s Goal in One Piece
The Biggest Dreamers on the Grand Line
In the world of One Piece, the Straw Hat crew members may share a collective dream of Luffy ascending to the title of Pirate King. However, each character harbors their unique ambitions. For instance, our protagonist Luffy is on a quest to discover the One Piece and claim the throne as the Pirate King. Meanwhile, Zoro yearns to be recognized as the greatest swordsman in the land.
I’m going to become a brave warrior of the sea! – Usopp
Moving forward with their ambitions within the world of One Piece, Nami strives to chart the entirety of this vast universe, while Usopp aspires to transform into a valiant sea warrior. Sanji yearns to discover the legendary “All-Blue,” a sea where all types of fish converge, and Chopper seeks a cure for every known disease. As an archaeologist, Robin is driven to uncover the mysteries of One Piece’s Void Century. Franky aims to witness his ship traversing the entire Grand Line, and Brook longs to be reunited with Laboon. Although Jinbe has yet to declare a dream comparable to those of the other Straw Hats, some speculate that his dream may involve achieving equality between humans and Fish-man.
Some Straw Hat Goals Are Easier Than Others
Simple And Definitive Endings
Among all tasks listed here, it seems that finding Laboon, the whale from One Piece, might be the most achievable one. This is because Luffy has already pledged to return to Laboon, and should the crew choose to, they can easily revisit him at any point. Moreover, if they were to journey around the Grand Line in search of Laboon again, it’s quite possible that they would fulfill Franky’s goal too, as they would be sailing the Thousand Sunny across the entire world.
As a gamer embarking on this grand adventure, I can tell you that the remaining challenges for Luffy, Zoro, and Usopp are no walk in the park. The road ahead is tough, but not insurmountable. Luffy’s quest to become the Pirate King, Zoro’s pursuit of defeating Mihawk and claiming the title of the strongest swordsman, and Usopp’s journey to prove his mettle as a “brave warrior of the sea” – these are goals that I believe we’ll see them achieve before our journey through this series concludes. The path may be arduous, but with perseverance and determination, I have no doubt that they will reach their destinations.
Unlike the Straw Hat Pirates who have clear and specific objectives such as defeating a powerful adversary, Jinbe, Chopper, Sanji, and Robin have more fluid goals that could potentially prove to be challenging in their own right. For instance, Robin’s mission and Chopper’s aspirations involve uncovering the truth about the mysterious past of One Piece, which might require extensive research spanning over many years. In Sanji’s case, his pursuit of the All-Blue remains uncertain as its existence is questionable; however, should it be real, he stands a strong chance of discovering it eventually.
Nami May Have the Hardest Goal in One Piece
Mapping the Entire World
Undeniably, the most challenging aspiration among the Straw Hats could be none other than Nami’s dream – to chart the entire world of One Piece. With countless treacherous and concealed islands scattered across it, even mapping a handful on the Grand Line is perilously arduous. Given the myriad mysterious and undiscovered islands that make up the One Piece universe, Nami’s objective might very well demand an extraordinarily prolonged effort to fulfill.
I’m going to draw a map of the world! – Nami
Eventually, each member of the Straw Hat crew has a challenging aspiration to fulfill, and Nami’s ambition to map the entire world appears almost unattainable. But once they complete their initial journey around the Grand Line, it’s expected that the subsequent trips for Nami’s objective will become less demanding. The voyage to One Piece’s West Blue will then seem easier. Following that, the North Blue will appear even simpler. And eventually, the South Blue as well.
