Xbox players looking for a new controller now have the GameSir Tarantula Pro, available for $69.99. Xbox controllers are generally well-regarded for their design and comfort—they’re often the go-to choice for PC gamers who prefer a controller over a mouse and keyboard, and their design is already very refined.
As a huge Xbox fan, I’ve gotta say, stick drift has been a real pain this generation. I’ve personally gone through about five controllers already because of it, or other problems, and it’s something I hear about all the time from other players. It feels like we might have to wait for the next Xbox to see a truly fixed controller. Thankfully, some awesome third-party companies are trying to solve the issue now with their own controllers, which is great to see!
GameSir recently unveiled the Tarantula Pro, a new controller for Xbox. It features a stylish white and grey design and has thumbsticks positioned similarly to the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller. A key feature is its “1000Hz Anti-Drift TMR sticks,” designed to prevent the frustrating stick drift problem common in many Xbox controllers. The wired GameSir Tarantula Pro is available for pre-order now for $69.99 and will start shipping in June.
I was really excited to see everything GameSir announced! It wasn’t just the Tarantula Pro for Xbox – they’re also making some awesome controllers just for PC gamers like me. They showed off the Tarantula 8K PC controller, which is designed for competitive esports, and the Tarantula Ultra 8K PC controller, which sounds like it’s going to be their best one yet. The 8K model will be $69.99, just like an Xbox controller, and should be available in June. They haven’t given us all the details on the Ultra 8K yet, so we’ll have to wait to hear more about that one, but I’m already intrigued!
If you like using official Xbox controllers from Microsoft, you’ll find they often release new designs. They frequently offer controllers in different colors, and there are also several versions of the high-end Elite controller to choose from.
A Next-Gen Xbox Controller May Be on the Horizon
The difference between the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S controllers wasn’t huge, so it’s exciting to think about what the next generation of Xbox will offer. Microsoft has confirmed they’re working on ‘Project Helix,’ with a release currently planned for 2027. While details about the console’s design and features are still under wraps, we know it will let players access and play PC games from stores like Steam and the Epic Games Store.
