It starts off looking like a typical, sunny day in a quiet neighborhood, kids everywhere… but things quickly go south. These kids are…off. Some are lying motionless, others are moving super slowly covered in chocolate, and they’re definitely not being friendly to the adults. Apparently, it’s all linked to the ice cream this guy is selling! The trailer doesn’t give away much plot-wise, but the official description says a peaceful summer town turns chaotic when the ice cream man starts handing out treats with truly terrifying consequences. It looks wild!

The first look at the film is full of director Erik Bloomquist’s trademark disturbing style and intense violence. With scenes of children making snow angels in blood, it’s safe to say Ice Cream Man will definitely be rated R. The newly released poster matches the film’s tone, showcasing a melting ice cream cone covered in blood – enough to completely drench whoever was eating it.

Eli Roth Is A Modern Horror Legend

Eli Roth has become a well-known horror director over the past twenty years. He’s famous for intensely graphic films like Hostel and Cabin Fever, and even his more widely released movies, such as Thanksgiving, don’t shy away from violence. Thanksgiving was a particularly special project for Roth, taking two decades to come to fruition. The slasher film proved to be worth the wait, delighting fans when it was released in late 2023. Critics also responded positively, giving it an 83% ‘Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

While fans eagerly await the sequel to Thanksgiving, director Eli Roth is also excited about Ice Cream Man, a project he’s been developing for years. Roth, a big fan of the original film with Clint Howard, shared with Variety last year that he believes this will be his most terrifying and boundary-pushing movie yet, something studios were previously hesitant to greenlight. He feels the time is right to really go for it.
