A player of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has cleverly recreated the original starter Pokémon from every main game in the series as Miis. What’s particularly impressive is they did this without using the game’s Face Paint feature. One of the best parts of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is being able to create Miis of all sorts of characters, but it can be tricky to make something detailed without drawing it yourself.
Fans of the Tomodachi series were excited to finally get a new game after a long wait since the Nintendo 3DS era. The original Tomodachi Life launched outside of Japan in 2013, and after nine years of development, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream was released on Nintendo Switch on April 16th.
Tomodachi Life Player Accurately Makes 30 Pokemon Without Using Face Paint
A dedicated fan has recreated all the Pokémon starters in the game Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream using its character creation tools. Reddit user DucklingCore built Miis of every starter Pokémon, from the original Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander to the newest additions, Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua from the upcoming Pokémon Winds and Waves. They didn’t include Pikachu or Eevee, as those Pokémon are only considered starters in spin-off games like Pokémon Yellow.
This player skillfully recreated all 30 Pokémon as Miis in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream without even using the game’s Face Paint feature. Face Paint lets you add extra details to Miis that aren’t normally possible with the standard character creation tools. While some players are using Face Paint to make incredibly realistic Miis of people and characters, this Pokémon fan proved it’s not essential. They successfully created recognizable Pokémon Miis using just head shapes, hairstyles, and unique skin colors.
Creating accurate Pokemon replicas in the game was challenging, and the creator relied on makeup to achieve the best results. While many Pokemon look realistic, some details didn’t translate perfectly, particularly with characters like Poplio and Oshawott. The game doesn’t allow for nose color adjustments without using the makeup feature. However, most players are still very happy with how the Pokemon turned out.

The person who made all the Pokémon Miis wasn’t able to provide a guide for adding them to everyone’s games. They were created using the free demo of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, released on March 25th. This demo only let players create and save three Miis at a time, offering a limited preview of the full game. The creator is now focusing on sharing how to make specific designs and is even expanding to create Miis of other Pokémon, such as Greninja.
