Aegon Actor Teases House of the Dragon Season 3 is ‘Going to Be Massive’

Tom Glynn-Carney, the actor who plays Aegon II Targaryen in House of the Dragon, has shared his excitement about Season 3, predicting it will be “massive” as the conflict known as the Dance with Dragons intensifies.

Tom Glynn-Carney portrays King Aegon II Targaryen, the son of Alicent Hightower and Viserys Targaryen. He takes over the role from Ty Tennant, who played a younger version of Aegon in a previous episode, and continues through season two of House of the Dragon. The season ends with Aegon secretly fleeing the city with Larys Strong to seek safety in Essos.

Aegon Actor Glynn-Carney Says House of the Dragon Season 3 Is Going To Be Massive

Speaking with Jodie McCallum from On Demand Entertainment at the 2026 Olivier Awards, actor Glynn-Carney hinted that Season 3 will be significantly larger in scope than previous seasons. He explained that the new season will be more ambitious and dramatic, promising major events in every episode and a generally bigger experience for viewers.

During the Battle of Rook’s Rest, Aegon was badly wounded by his brother Aemond and his dragon, Vhagar, and Princess Rhaenys Targaryen was killed. After the battle, Aemond became the acting ruler while Aegon recovered. Lord Larys Strong helped Aegon escape the chaos of King’s Landing, hiding him in a wagon as they waited for a safe time to return. Larys told Aegon:

Let your brother and his rival exhaust themselves fighting. Once they’ve weakened each other and their armies are defeated, we’ll come back, and the people will welcome us as their saviors.

While Aegon showed some hesitation, he ultimately heeded Larys Strong’s advice and fled.
