Devil Fruit Awakening is a significant power introduced by Eiichiro Oda during the Dressrosa arc. It happens when a Devil Fruit user fully masters their abilities, both mentally and physically. As the story of One Piece reaches its climax, more and more of the strongest characters are using this power to defeat their opponents. Monkey D. Luffy awakened his Devil Fruit in the Wano Country arc, unlocking Gear 5, but many other powerful awakenings have been revealed. While some aren’t as strong as Luffy’s, others are even more dangerous, potentially capable of global destruction.
Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Giraffe
- User: Kaku
One of the least impressive Devil Fruit Awakenings revealed in the final arc was Kaku’s. During the time skip, he awakened his Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Giraffe. As a Zoan-type Devil Fruit, his Awakening allows him to transform into a more powerful giraffe form, distinguished by dark, flame-like clouds around his neck. This drastically boosts his strength and abilities, even allowing him to compete with Roronoa Zoro, a formidable pirate with a bounty of 1.111 billion berries.
We haven’t seen the full extent of Kaku’s awakened Devil Fruit power, as he wasn’t a major player during the Egghead arc. While he’s undoubtedly strong, he currently seems to be one of the weaker awakened Devil Fruit users introduced in the final part of the story. He’s likely to reappear later and have a more significant role, which will hopefully give us a better understanding of his abilities.
Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Leopard
- User: Rob Lucci
Rob Lucci possesses the Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Leopard, and has become incredibly skilled at using its abilities. During the time skip, he mastered this power to the point where it Awakened. When Lucci reappeared in the Egghead Arc, he demonstrated to Luffy that he, too, had gained new strength. Similar to how Luffy Awakened the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, Lucci awakened his Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Leopard, unlocking a new transformation.
After awakening, Lucci became significantly more powerful and aggressive. His speed and strength increased dramatically, making him a blur in combat and incredibly hard to hit. Even skilled pirates struggled to fight him due to his immense power and durability. While he briefly held his own against Luffy’s Gear 5, he surprisingly gave Zoro a very difficult battle, absorbing attacks infused with Conqueror’s Haki with ease. Ultimately, Zoro couldn’t completely defeat Lucci, who remained standing, though it was clear Zoro had the upper hand.

Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Kirin
- User: Rimoshifu Killingham
The Elbaf arc in One Piece has revealed many characters with strong Devil Fruit abilities, including Saint Rimoshifu Killingham, a Holy Knight who has awakened his. Killingham possesses the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Kirin, a Devil Fruit that lets him transform into a Kirin – a mythical creature – and a Kirin-human hybrid.
While the full extent of his Devil Fruit power remains unknown, it’s clear he can control dreams and nightmares. He can make things dreamed of become real – he demonstrated this by putting Sommers to sleep and then materializing the salt Sommers had dreamed about. Conversely, he can also bring nightmares to life, repeatedly creating them through portals to the dream world. This power is incredibly dangerous, potentially capable of destroying an entire country, as evidenced by the destruction of Elbaph. Furthermore, his Devil Fruit grants him immense physical strength, making him a formidable opponent for most pirates.
Cerberus
- User: Shamrock Figarland
The Elbaf arc of One Piece featured several awakened Zoan Devil Fruits, including a very unusual one called Cerberus. What makes this Devil Fruit special is that it wasn’t eaten by a person – it was absorbed by a sword. Shamrock Figarland uses the sword named Cerberus, which gained its powers after being infused with this Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit.
When Shamrock arrived in Elbaph, he unveiled a powerful sword that he could transform into Cerberus, a massive three-headed dog with blade-like fangs. A dark, fiery cloud surrounded Cerberus’s neck, signaling awakened Devil Fruit abilities. While we haven’t seen the full extent of Cerberus’s power yet, it’s clear it’s incredibly dangerous – Shamrock used it to inflict significant damage on Loki. This is especially impressive considering Loki had already survived a devastating fall from the Sun World as a baby. As the Final Saga unfolds, we’ll likely see just how formidable Shamrock’s Cerberus truly is.
Yokai Powers
- User: Five Elders
The Five Elders possess extraordinary abilities originating from a mysterious pact they share with Nerona Imu, the King of the World. This pact gives them powers similar to those gained from Devil Fruits, but they are more accurately described as ancient spirit powers – Yokai abilities. These powers operate like the strongest type of Devil Fruit – Mythical Zoan types – allowing the Elders to transform fully into beasts, maintain a human form, or exist in a hybrid state.
Adding to their power, all the Elders have dark rings around their necks, likely indicating they’ve fully unlocked their Yokai abilities over their long lives – they’ve existed for centuries. The Five Elders are incredibly strong, having pushed their powers to the absolute limit. Combined with their ability to regenerate, their immortality, and ageless bodies, they are a formidable threat, as even Luffy in his Gear 5 form found them challenging in Egghead.
Akuma no Mi
- User: Nerona Imu
So far in the final part of the story, the most powerful Devil Fruit introduced is Nerona Imu’s, known as The Devil’s Fruit. This fruit allows Imu to transform into a devil-like being and is considered the original Devil Fruit, making it incredibly dangerous. Many believe it’s a perfect match against Luffy’s Nika Fruit and is even more powerful.
Fans got a small taste of Imu’s incredible power in Elbaph, and it’s obvious he’s on a completely different level than anyone else. No one even comes close to matching his strength when he transforms. The large black ring with eyes around his neck is further evidence that he’s awakened his abilities.
