Dragon Ball: 10 Strongest Hybrid Saiyans, Ranked

Saiyans are known as incredibly strong warriors in the world of Dragon Ball, but those with both Saiyan and human parents – known as Hybrids – possess even greater potential. When a Saiyan and a human have a child, that child gains a unique combination of strength and talent, allowing them to become even more powerful than pure-blooded Saiyans, and often with less training.

I’m a huge fan of how powerful hybrids are in Dragon Ball! It’s amazing to think back to the very first mention of Super Saiyans – it actually comes when Vegeta and Nappa are talking about how strong a Saiyan-Human mix can be! We see it play out with characters like Gohan and Future Trunks; they’re just unbelievably strong, and honestly, even Goku and Vegeta have to push themselves to the absolute limit to keep up with their power levels. It’s a testament to just how potent that hybrid bloodline is!

10. Bulla Has No Interest in Training or Fighting

As Vegeta’s daughter, Bulla has a lot of natural talent, particularly because she was born after Vegeta had already mastered both Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2. However, she doesn’t enjoy training at all. In the peaceful years following the Cell Saga, she prefers to relax and skips the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament (unlike her cousin, Pan). She continues this lifestyle, becoming somewhat spoiled as she grows up in Dragon Ball GT.

Bulla is still a child in Dragon Ball Super, so it’s too early to know if she’ll grow up like her older version in Dragon Ball GT. However, she seems to want a quiet life, and even Trunks loses some of his drive as a teenager. In the 3DS game Dragon Ball Fusions, Bulla’s power level is considered a C, which is about the same as Yamcha and Chiaotzu.

9. Pan Has More Potential Than Any Saiyan Alive – But She’s Still Only 3

Pan wasn’t able to show what she was truly capable of in Dragon Ball GT, and she never even achieved the Super Saiyan transformation. However, Dragon Ball Super is working to change that. At only three years old, Pan is receiving personal training from Piccolo, and is said to be even more gifted than Gohan was at that age. Plus, she seems to have inherited Goku’s love for fighting, suggesting she’ll stay dedicated to her training, unlike her father.

During the Peaceful World Saga in Dragon Ball Z, Pan demonstrates her strength by defeating Goten in the 28th Tenkaichi Budokai. Although she’s too young to participate in the Black Frieza Saga, the continuation of the story in Dragon Ball Super allows for Pan’s development. She has the potential to become the most powerful Half-Saiyan ever.

8. Vegeta Jr. is Only 1/16th Saiyan

Vegeta Jr. is a descendant of Vegeta, appearing in one episode of Dragon Ball GT during the final round of a martial arts tournament. Because of his distant relation to the original Vegeta, he’s only 1/16 Saiyan, meaning he has very little Saiyan blood. However, even that small amount of Saiyan DNA allows him to transform into a Super Saiyan.

This already puts Vegeta Jr. ahead of Pan in terms of strength, but he’s not overwhelmingly powerful overall. He and Goku Jr. are fairly evenly matched, and the spectators can easily follow their fight, which suggests they aren’t even as strong as Krillin was during the original Dragon Ball series.

7. Goku Jr.’s Feats Aren’t Much Better Than Kid Goku’s

Goku Jr. is the central character in Dragon Ball GT: A Hero’s Legacy and makes a quick appearance at the end of Dragon Ball GT episode 64, where he battles Vegeta Jr. in the World Martial Arts Tournament. Similar to Vegeta Jr., he can transform into a Super Saiyan, but his abilities aren’t particularly impressive.

Goku Jr.’s most notable win is against Lord Yao, who isn’t much stronger than a typical person. Considering young Goku in the original Dragon Ball was already stronger than most adults and could fight alongside skilled martial artists, Goku Jr.’s power level is roughly equal to Goku’s during the Red Ribbon Army arc, even when Goku Jr. transforms into a Super Saiyan.

6. Future Gohan Died With a Power Level of Around 150,000,000

Future Gohan is arguably the most heartbreaking character in all of Dragon Ball. In his timeline, Goku died before he could train Gohan after returning from Namek. Gohan always saw Super Saiyan Goku as the absolute strongest, believing he could never exceed his father’s power. The story strongly suggests that Future Gohan’s peak strength was limited to the same level as Super Saiyan Goku during the Frieza Saga.

Future Gohan’s power level was about 150,000,000 when he died – stronger than Frieza, but still not nearly strong enough to defeat the Androids. He died fighting bravely in a tough battle, leaving Future Trunks to face the Androids and try to save their future after they easily defeated him.

5. Goten Was Already as Strong as Gohan When He Was a Kid

Goten started out as a very promising character in Dragon Ball Z, even reaching Super Saiyan at a younger age than anyone else. He was initially strong enough to compete with Gohan during the Majin Buu Saga, and Goku thought he and Trunks could potentially defeat Buu. However, in Dragon Ball Super, Goten hasn’t lived up to that early potential.

As Goten gets older, he loses interest in training and becomes more focused on girls and superheroes. He even struggles to transform into a Super Saiyan – a problem later fixed in the manga. By the time of Dragon Ball Z‘s final arc, Goten has become so weak that his daughter, Pan, is able to defeat him in the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament.

4. Trunks is Slightly Older Than Goten & Slightly Stronger

Trunks is a little stronger than Goten because he’s a year older, but the difference isn’t significant. However, the movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero suggests they’re now equally matched. If Trunks dedicated himself to training, he has the potential to become incredibly powerful, as seen with his Future self who became much stronger.

Similar to Goten, Trunks has lost his ability to transform into a Super Saiyan in the Dragon Ball Super anime, and he’s even forgotten how to perform the Fusion Dance correctly. While the Dragon Ball Super manga gives him a more significant role as the central figure in the Super Hero Saga, it doesn’t fully restore the character to his former potential from when he was younger.

3. Gotenks Was the Third Strongest Z-Fighters at the End of Dragon Ball Z

Gotenks isn’t as prominent since the introduction of God Ki in Dragon Ball, but he used to be incredibly powerful. By the end of Dragon Ball Z, he was the third strongest fighter, surpassed only by Ultimate Gohan and Super Saiyan Vegito. As a Super Saiyan, Gotenks was even stronger than Super Saiyan 3 Goku, and his Super Saiyan 3 form could have defeated Super Buu.

Despite having trouble with the fusion process, Gotenks still showed impressive power by damaging Cell Max in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. If Goten and Trunks can perfect their fusion and resume training, Gotenks has the potential to become as strong as Goku and Vegeta. As a fusion, Gotenks naturally possesses more potential than most half-human, half-Saiyan hybrids.

2. Future Trunks Mastered Super Saiyan 2 & Unlocked Super Saiyan Rage With No Help

Future Trunks represents what Trunks could achieve with dedicated training, and he’s one of the most powerful Saiyans in the series. He quickly became as strong as Super Saiyan Goku during the Namek Saga simply by training with Gohan. By the time of Dragon Ball Super, Future Trunks pushed himself so far that he unlocked Super Saiyan 2 and even defeated Dabura, surpassing the power of Super Perfect Cell. In the Dragon Ball Super manga, he fully masters Super Saiyan 2, becoming stronger than Super Saiyan 3 Goku, which forces Goku to transform into Super Saiyan God to win.

By the end of Dragon Ball Super, Future Trunks reaches a powerful new level called Super Saiyan Rage. This form allowed him to defeat Fused Zamasu, a villain that even Goku and Vegeta in their Super Saiyan Blue forms couldn’t handle alone. If Future Trunks had stayed in the present timeline, he likely would have become one of Universe 7’s strongest fighters in the Tournament of Power. What makes his progress so remarkable is that he achieved all of this without a training partner, relying entirely on his own determination.

1. Gohan is Officially Stronger Than Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku

I’ve been watching Dragon Ball for a long time, and right now, I’d say Gohan is the strongest fighter besides Goku. He’s a half-Saiyan, which already makes him powerful, but unlocking his ‘Beast’ form in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero really pushed him over the top. The manga has continued the story from that movie, showing Gohan dealing with the leftover forces of the Red Ribbon Army, and even getting a chance to train with Goku on Beerus’ planet.

Gohan Beast is incredibly strong – he’s powerful enough to knock Goku out of his Perfected Ultra Instinct form, winning their fight. He then goes on to defeat Broly, Vegeta, Goten, and Trunks in a free-for-all battle, solidifying his position as the strongest fighter. Whis even believes Gohan has the potential to become Universe 7’s God of Destruction. Gohan represents the absolute pinnacle of Saiyan hybrid power, and he’s currently the Z-Fighters’ best hope for finally defeating Black Frieza.
