Market analyst Ansem is cautioning Ethereum investors, suggesting the cryptocurrency’s core strengths are fading. He predicts Ethereum could fall below $1,000 by the end of the year if this trend continues.
According to Ansem, the original vision for Ethereum’s dominance is fading. Solana has become the preferred platform for most individual investors this cycle, and Hyperliquid is now leading the way in decentralized perpetual trading. The concept of rollups designed for many different uses hasn’t really taken off, and Vitalik Buterin has indicated he’s no longer prioritizing that approach.

Ethereum’s “safety” exchanged for real revenues in tech
According to Ansem, the rapid rise of artificial intelligence and tech stocks is shaking investor confidence. These investments are seen as more appealing because they’re actually generating revenue and offer better growth potential than the currently slow-moving assets in DeFi.
The recent problems within Aave highlight the damage to Ethereum’s image as a secure place for large investments. Following a security incident involving Kelp DAO and rsETH tokens – which led to around $292 million being pulled out – Aave has seen roughly $6 billion in deposits withdrawn as users moved to protect their funds.
According to trader Ansem, Ethereum is currently in a long-term downward trend after repeatedly failing to surpass key resistance levels. He recommends selling Ethereum around its current price of $2,317, with a price target below $1,000 by the end of 2026.
If the price of Ethereum falls to between $2,700 and $2,800, it would strongly suggest a negative trend. However, reaching that price point would likely require significant new developments and growth within the Ethereum network.
