The Most Anticipated Indie Games Of 2026

2026 is looking incredibly busy for gamers! We’re still enjoying fantastic new releases like Cairn and Perfect Tides: Station to Station, which are already being considered for Game of the Year awards. Plus, games like Esoteric Ebb and Mewgenics have quickly become some of the highest-rated titles of the year.

Okay, so I thought I had a good handle on my gaming list, but wow, 2026 is already shaping up to be huge! Even though we’re still waiting for news on titles I’m really excited about, like Truth Scrapper and Threads of Time, there are so many other promising games coming out. Seriously, from relaxing, feel-good adventures to totally wild platformers, here are the 10 indie games I’m counting down the days to play.

Titanium Court

A Play, Match-3, And Tower Defense Game All In One

Platforms PC, macOS
Released April 23, 2026
Developer AP Thomson
Genre Strategy

AP Thompson, a key member of the team that created the acclaimed indie game Consume Me (winner of the 2025 Seumas McNally Grand Prize), is releasing a new game this week. Titanium Court, a quirky and mind-bending puzzle game, will be available on Steam on April 23, 2026. This release marks a historic achievement for Thompson, making them the first developer to win the Seumas McNally Grand Prize two years in a row.

Titanium Court is a unique and clever puzzle game that combines the familiar match-3 gameplay with thoughtful strategy and striking, unusual artwork. You’ll lead fantastical faerie forces through a weird and wonderful story, discovering hidden secrets along the way. It’s a gaming experience unlike anything you’ve played before.

Big Walk

Take A Walk, Solve Some Puzzles, And Relax With Friends

House House, the team behind the popular game Untitled Goose Game, is now working on Big Walk, and it’s their biggest project so far. Big Walk is a game meant to be played with friends, focusing on cooperative multiplayer gameplay, so you’ll need to team up with others to enjoy the experience.

You’ll explore a large and fascinating world filled with puzzles, challenges, and things to uncover. You’ll use various gadgets to keep in touch, but sometimes you’ll need to get creative with how you communicate, especially when words aren’t enough or you’re far apart. It’s not all serious adventure, though – you can also relax and have some fun, even causing a little playful trouble with your teammates. While there’s no confirmed release date yet, Big Walk is expected to launch on Steam and PlayStation 5 later this year.

Denshattack!

Multi-Track Drifting Has Never Looked So Good

Undercoders’ Denshattack! is a fast-paced arcade platformer where you control a train car speeding through a vibrant, cartoonish Japan. Unlike typical train games, you’re in full control – you can flip, jump, spin, and grind along the rails as you navigate the city. The levels are designed like those in classic games such as Super Mario Land and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, appearing as circles on a map and connected by paths.

This game offers more than just a journey from point A to point B. It includes a scoring system that tracks your actions and a compelling story to experience. The gameplay – battling bosses, overcoming harsh weather, and mastering challenging tracks with impressive train maneuvers – looks incredibly fun. Luckily, you won’t have to wait long to play it, as it’s scheduled to release on June 17, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S.

At Fate’s End

Sometimes You Must Fight The Ones You Love

Thunder Lotus Games has earned a reputation for creating games that are both visually stunning and emotionally resonant. Their previous titles, like Spiritfarer and Sundered, successfully combine engaging gameplay with a beautiful, hand-drawn art style, establishing Thunder Lotus as a leading indie game developer.

Building on the narrative established in the story of Princess Shan, At Fate’s End promises an exciting and visually stunning action-adventure experience. The game centers around a family torn apart by conflict, and players will make choices that determine whether they reconcile with or defeat their siblings. These decisions will not only impact the player’s journey, but also shape the family’s lasting legacy. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet, At Fate’s End is currently scheduled for release in 2026 on Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Xbox Game Pass.

Mina The Hollower

Dig Deep Into A New Adventure

The creators of the beloved indie game Shovel Knight are back with Mina the Hollower, a promising new pixel-art adventure. You play as Mina, a skilled explorer known as a Hollower, who is on a dangerous quest to save someone. As Mina, you’ll fight monsters and explore the world by jumping, digging, and breaking through anything that stands in your way.

With so many cool tools, weapons, and characters already revealed, Mina the Hollower is looking like another fantastic game from Yacht Club Games. Although there’s no firm release date yet, the developers have recently shared updates, and it’s currently planned to launch in spring 2026.

ONTOS

Explore The Architecture Of The Mind

ONTOS is a sci-fi mystery game set in the Samsara, a hotel built on the moon. Players must investigate strange experiments and unravel a complex story. It’s a deeply immersive experience, presenting players with unsettling situations they need to resolve. While it explores similar themes and ideas as the game SOMA, the full scope of its connection remains to be discovered.

The game challenges you with choices that have lasting effects, meaning you’ll need to live with the results if you want to succeed. The story also appears to center around a mystery, as players uncover the truth about their father and the world around them. Currently, ONTOS is scheduled to release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, though a specific date hasn’t been revealed.

Witchbrook

Spells, Studies, And Secret Gardens

Witchbrook, from Chucklefish, is a charming multiplayer game where you play as a student at a magical seaside school. It’s a mix of life simulation and RPG, letting you experience the daily life of a young witch or wizard. Think of it as a magical version of Stardew Valley, with a school life similar to games like Persona or Demonschool. You’ll attend classes, explore a beautiful campus, grow plants in gardens, and even fix up your own cottage.

The game features a rich social life where you can build friendships and even find romance with a variety of characters. It sounds amazing to learn spells, grow magical plants, uncover the town’s secrets, and still have time for social events! The developers, Chucklefish, have been sharing updates for a while now, and it looks like we’ll finally get to attend Witchbrook College in 2026. It will be available on Steam, Nintendo Switch, the next Nintendo Switch console, and Xbox Series X|S.

ZERO PARADES: For Dead Spies

The Specter Of History Shapes This Story

I’m really excited about ZA/UM’s new game, Zero Parades: For Dead Spies! It’s a story-driven RPG with a cool, angled perspective, and it sounds really intense. If you loved Disco Elysium, you’ll probably feel right at home with this one – it plays in a similar way. You play as Hershel Wilk, and like the main character in Disco Elysium, he’s a bit lost and doesn’t remember much when the game starts.

In this game, you explore a broken mind, where Hershel’s abilities manifest as inner voices. There’s no fighting—the entire experience revolves around rich, story-driven conversations and investigations. As you talk and explore, you’ll need to keep track of Hershel’s Fatigue, Anxiety, and Delirium levels. Despite recent challenges at the studio, Zero Parades: For Dead Spies, from the creators of Disco Elysium, looks promising. It’s scheduled to launch on PC and PlayStation 5 on May 21, 2026.

Dead As Disco

Disco Didn’t Die—They Killed It

As a huge fan of rhythm-action games, I’m already excited about Dead as Disco! It’s launching in Early Access on May 5, 2026, and from what I’ve seen, it’s going to be a seriously cool beat-em-up. Think Hi-Fi Rush, but with a neon aesthetic and a story about Charlie Disco, a former music star who has to battle it out with his old bandmates – all of whom are famous musicians themselves. It looks like every punch and move will be perfectly timed to the music, which is exactly my kind of game!

Dead as Disco lets players personalize their experience by adding their own music, creating unique combat sequences and editing them like music videos. The game is visually striking, with vibrant neon colors, smooth animations, and dazzling effects that really stand out. A demo is available on Steam if you want to try it before purchasing, and it definitely lives up to the hype.
