Recently, Altman took to X to extend his congratulations to David Sacks, who has been tapped by Trump to lead the development of cryptocurrency regulations within the United States.

In simpler terms, when the executive from OpenAI praised someone, Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, replied with a laugh emoji, suggesting he found it amusing or was making light of the situation, possibly implying a competitive or playful dynamic between them.

Wary Of Musk’s Political Influence

At The New York Times’ DealBook Summit, Altman expressed faith in Musk, stating that he thought Musk would exercise his influence responsibly rather than against his competitors, by saying, “I have a strong conviction that Elon will make the appropriate choices.

An OpenAI executive expressed that it would be deeply “un-American” for Elon Musk to leverage his political influence to harm his rivals and boost his own business.

“I don’t think people would tolerate that,” Altman told Bloomberg.

The fact that Elon Musk, head of SpaceX, was appointed as Trump’s advisor for cryptocurrencies indicates the significant impact he wields within the new presidential administration.

He suggested that Altman and his team might be working in cahoots with Microsoft, their main backer, to prevent xAI from advancing within the field.

Altman denied Musk’s accusations, saying they perceived xAI as a “serious competitor.”

“I thought what Elon was doing was absolutely incredible for the world, and I have different feelings about him now, but I’m glad he exists,” Altman remarked.
