Royal Ravens On Top Following First Week of the CDL 2025 Season

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say the opening week of the CDL 2025 season has been nothing short of exhilarating! The Royal Ravens have certainly set the bar high with their impressive record and dominance on the battlefield. I’ve seen teams rise and fall, and I can confidently say that LAT, Rokkr, and Toronto Ultra are ones to watch this year.

The inaugural week of the CDL 2025 season has concluded, and it’s the Carolina Royal Ravens who lead the standings. They currently boast a 2-0 record, having defeated 6 out of their 8 matches so far. Over the weekend, they outperformed the other eleven teams in the CDL, first crushing Team Falcons and then unexpectedly defeating LAG M8.

This year, it’s apparent that influential teams have been solidifying their positions from the start. Teams like LAT, Rokkr, and Toronto Ultra have made strong debuts, remaining undefeated in their matches this past week.

Miserable Elsewhere

Surprisingly, Atlanta FaZe is currently placed close to the bottom of the Call of Duty League standings following the initial weekend of competition. Regrettably, the team didn’t manage to earn any points, suffering losses against both LAT and Toronto Ultra. The matchup with LAT was particularly intense – with the exception of the opening Hardpoint, nearly every round was a nail-biter.

Cloud9 New York, Vegas Falcons, and LAG M8 all ended their CDL campaigns without earning any points. Among them, Cloud9 NY had the poorest performance – they won only one map out of the seven played, tying with Team Falcons. Many experts anticipate that this organization might be the least successful in the current season.

Out of the twelve teams in the CDL 2025 season, the ones to watch have been made clear.

The alliance of Scrap, HyDra, Envoy, and Ghosty is a formidable one. Scrap and HyDra are wreaking havoc, with HyDra’s impressive 40-bomb performance standing out, while Ghosty’s role as the in-game leader and Envoy’s veteran backing significantly strengthen the team. This year could very well be LAT’s, a reward for all the effort Nadeshot has invested in the organization this time around.

Over the weekend, Ultra enjoyed significant success. They inflicted a heavy defeat on Atlanta FaZe and subsequently humbled Surge. The Canadian team, in preparation for the new season, has made some strategic adjustments, recruiting Beans and JoeDeceives to bolster their roster, which already features long-time players Insight and CleanX, who are predominantly from Europe.

This was a fantastic weekend of play all round, and a few technical blips didn’t do too much to mar the entertainment. It’s no big secret that viewership could have been better, but co-streams and watch parties will undoubtedly do bits for the CDL this year.
