What’s really great about Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is how players are using their Mii characters in imaginative ways.
Ultimately, creating unique characters is mostly up to your own imagination. Unlike some other games, you can’t download pre-made characters or use an online character creator for Miis.
It’s frustrating, but not surprising coming from Nintendo. And honestly, maybe they’re justified – some of the Miis I’ve seen online are… questionable. Seriously, some of you need to rethink your creations.
Don’t worry, you can still share your Miis with friends and family directly! It’s not super obvious how to do it, but this guide will walk you through the simple steps.
How to Enable Local Play to Connect With Others

First things first, in order to share Miis with people locally, you’ll need to enable local play.
The best part is, it’s incredibly easy – you don’t need friend codes or any complicated steps.
First, go to the main menu and choose “Local Play.” This will take you to a screen where you can find other players or connect with people who are looking to play. If you want to be the host, simply wait for others to join. If someone else is hosting, select the option to search for a player.
Once I get everything set up and connected, I’ll be able to share the stuff I create – things like my levels or even my Miis – with my friends. If I want to share my Miis specifically, I just need to make sure I choose the ‘Miis’ option.
How to Share Miis in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream
After you let Tomodachi Life know you want to share Miis directly with others, the process is actually really easy.
This screen shows you a list of all the Mii characters living on your island. From here, you can choose which Mii you want to send to your friend’s island. Just pick the Mii you want, and it will be transferred over.
You might be wondering, “What if I don’t like the Mii my friend made and want to get rid of it?” Don’t worry, that’s simple too.
To have a Mii move out, go to the Residents section in the game menu and choose the Mii you want to remove. Then, look for the “Delete Mii” option in the top-right corner of the screen. There’s a fee to cover their move, but it’s worth it if you’re sure you want them to leave.
