EA Sports FC, formerly known as FIFA, is a popular soccer video game series from Electronic Arts. However, one part of that series, EA Sports FC Tactical, is being discontinued. Starting May 7th, the game will no longer be playable, and purchases within the game are currently disabled.
It’s likely just a coincidence, but this news comes alongside another EA Sports FC update in early May 2026. On May 5th, EA Sports FC26, along with Wuchang Fallen Feathers and Nine Sols, will be available as free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. So, the newest game in the series is being highlighted by PS Plus while a related game is ending support just a few days later.
EA Games is Shutting Down EA Sports FC Tactical
EA Sports FC Tactical, a turn-based mobile game developed by KLab and EA, launched in limited release in May 2024 in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. While players hoped for a wider release, EA has announced the game will permanently shut down on May 7, 2026. This closure is part of a larger move by EA to discontinue mobile games that aren’t performing well.

Unlike most EA Sports titles, EA Sports FC Tactical focused on strategic gameplay. It was a turn-based simulation where players controlled every decision on the field, including defense, attacks, and skill usage. In late 2025 and early 2026, the game received numerous complaints, which ultimately led to its discontinuation – a result many had predicted.

This heads-up isn’t always the case, though. Warner Bros. recently shut down Cars 3: Driven to Win without any prior warning to its players.
