Conclusion
As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Rocket Raccoon is one of the most intriguing characters to navigate in Marvel’s Avengers: Clash of Legends. His unique playstyle and versatile abilities make him an exciting addition to any team composition.
If you’re aiming to take on the role of a supportive hero in Marvel Rivals who also has the ability to navigate through tight areas, then Rocket Raccoon would be an ideal choice for you.
In essence, Rocket, our beloved strategist and trash-loving panda, predominantly functions as a supportive character. His key contribution to the team lies in providing healing via bouncing orbs and swiftly reviving team members when they’re down on their luck.
As a die-hard Marvel Rivals enthusiast, I’m excited to walk you through the incredible abilities of one of our favorite characters! I’ll be sharing insider tips and clever strategies to help you unleash chaos with your gadgets, making it feel like you’re in the midst of a science fair during a hurricane. Let’s get started!
Rocket Raccoon Abilities
The appeal of Rocket lies in the tech-oriented feel of his equipment, as he frequently employs various deployable devices. These tools prove incredibly handy.
Instead of dealing substantial damage, Bombard’s primary method is inflicting it. However, the amount of damage he dishes out isn’t particularly impressive. Fear not, as his other abilities compensate for this weak point by providing him with a flexible support arsenal.
Here’s a quick rundown of his abilities:
Ability | Description |
---|---|
Bombard Mode | Basic attack. Shoot rapid-fire energy projectiles that deal 16 damage per round. Can crit. Has an effective range of 10m before damage fall-off, up to a 40% decrease (4 damage) at 20m. |
Repair Mode | Shoot bouncing healing spheres that generate a small healing field that regenerates 60 health per second for allies and 30 for yourself. Balls disappear after healing for 140 (allies) or 70 (self) health or bounce 6 times before disappearing. |
C.Y.A. | Deploy a Cosmic Yarn Amplifier that grants allies a 40% damage boost within its 20m radius. The machine has 800 health before it is destroyed. |
Jetpack Dash | Dash forward with your jetpack. 2 charges that take 6 seconds to recharge each. |
B.R.B. | Deploy a Battle Rebirth Beacon. This machine generates an item every 3 seconds, including Armor Packs (25 bonus health) and Rocket Boots. The beacon can also revive any fallen allies within a 50m radius, consuming the machine and putting it on a 45-second cooldown. However, you can also prematurely reclaim the machine, putting it on a 5-second cooldown instead. |
Wild Crawl | Hold (JUMP BUTTON) to run on a wall. |
Flying Ace | Hold (JUMP BUTTON) to fall slowly in the air. |
Rocket Raccoon Offensive Strategies
As Rocket, aggressiveness translates into swiftly darting across the battlefield, consistently deploying healing orbs, and providing coverfire to support your teammates as they carry out their tough tasks.
- Rocket’s Bombard Mode is mainly used to finish off enemies with low health or harass the opposing team with chip damage. Sure, it’s got low damage and crappy range, but Rocket’s gun has an insane rate of fire, allowing you to spray bullets and be a reliable gunner.
- Your healing balls don’t heal much, but their ricochet is best for when your teammates are out of direct line of sight. When a teammate’s diving, you don’t have to be a pocket healer–angle your shots to where they bounce into that other room where the fight is.
- Because of Rocket’s high mobility, take advantage of his ability to fall slowly in the air. Combine that with his dash; you can take to the skies and use the vantage point to spot incoming enemies and warn your team.
- The C.Y.A. is Rocket’s most powerful doohickey. This crazy contraption gives anybody in range a 40% damage boost and can win you some tough scraps if you’re smart with it. I noticed that the amplifying beam goes through walls, so try putting the doodad behind cover.
- Enemy healers with AOE healing effects, like Mantis and Luna Snow, are your biggest counters. Their Ultimate abilities can make that damage boost meaningless, so make sure they’re not on the field if you don’t want to waste your Ultimate.
Rocket Raccoon Defensive Strategies
To survive like Rocket Raccoon, you need to be as elusive as an eel. Your greatest assets are your small stature and agility. Emulate a raccoon; seek out hidden spaces and high ground as refuge when faced with difficult situations.
- Your dash is your best tool for getting out of trouble. Whether you’re contesting a point or running away from enemies, your best bet is to zip around and make it much harder for your enemies to catch you. There have been a few Domination matches where all I did to stay alive while outnumbered on the objective was run in circles, dash unpredictably when it’s available, and spam healing balls. Surprisingly, that works wonders.
- Mastering Rocket’s wall crawl will set you apart from other Rocket players. Use it to escape when the going gets tough, and remember to zigzag so that it’s harder for your enemies to get a bead on you.
- Destructible terrain can be your best friend. Keep a lookout for cracks to slip into or to shoot out of – you won’t believe how often people ignore the holes in the walls.
- While we’re on the same topic about walls, do your best to find a good hiding spot for your B.R.B. thingamajig. Make sure it’s away from the fight, but close enough for it to revive any teammate who’s down for the count. Try finding places where you and your teammates are close by, or places where the enemy wouldn’t expect it to be.
- The B.R.B. device also churns out armor packs and jump boosts. In my experience, most of my teammates ignore those lifesavers, so try pinging them and letting your teammates know that these might just help.
To make wall-crawling much easier, try setting your wall-crawling direction to “Advance Towards Crosshair.” This will give you much snappier movement while wall-running.
Rocket Raccoon Team-Up Abilities
Rocket Raccoon has two Team-Up abilities: Old Friends and Ammo Invention.
Generally speaking, the collaboration between Ammo Invention and the duo (Punisher and Winter Soldier) is unbeatable. This unique feature provides them with limitless ammunition for 12 seconds, a factor that has significantly tipped many battles in my favor.
If you have a Groot ally, the reduced damage isn’t too harsh, right? However, the question is whether the team-up is beneficial. This relies on whether your Groot can effectively position itself and manage to survive in combat situations.
Team-Up Ability | Heroes Needed | Description |
---|---|---|
Old Friends | Groot | Jeff the Land Shark and Rocket Raccoon can ride on Groot’s shoulders, receiving a Damage Reduction (35%). |
Jeff the Land Shark and/or Rocket Raccoon | ||
Ammo Invention | Rocket Raccoon | Rocket Raccoon throws an Ammo Overload device in the target direction. Upon entering the device’s range (10m), the Punisher and Winter Soldier receive Infinite Ammo and Faster Firing. Lasts 12 seconds and has a 45-second cooldown. |

Rocket Raccoon Counters & How To Deal With Them
In a realm filled with formidable opponents, Rocket could find himself in tricky situations if he’s not vigilant. Since he lacks defensive capabilities up close, any mobile melee Hero with a strong offensive punch can quickly outmaneuver and defeat him.
- Vanguard
- Thor
- Venom
- Duelist
- Iron fist
- Spider-Man
- Strategist
- Luna Snow
- Jeff
To avoid defeat by a close combat Hero, it is advisable not to engage in a one-on-one fight as you are likely to lose. Instead, focus on either escaping or drawing them towards your teammates.
As a gamer, keep an eye on Jeff’s ultimate move, as its hitbox seems oddly constructed. It has the potential to snag you mid-air or even when you think you’ve slipped out of its range. I’m unsure if this is by design or not.
Best Team Comps With Rocket Raccoon
As a gamer, I find myself struggling with Bombard Mode due to its relatively low damage output compared to other abilities, and Repair Mode doesn’t provide quick enough healing for me to serve as the primary healer in my team.
My best recommendation is to have a second Strategist as the main healer, preferably a Luna or Jeff, since their healing abilities can top off health really quick. Cloak and Dagger might even be a good pick, but I haven’t encountered enough to know for sure.
Regarding Vanguards, Doctor Strange and Venom each play distinct roles yet complement Rocket effectively. Doctor Strange can erect a barrier and stay with Rocket in defensive positions, while Venom can charge into the enemy group, creating chaos. As for Groot, it’s uncertain whether he would fit well as a Vanguard.
It goes without saying, but the Punisher and Winter Soldier are the best Duelist picks for Rocket. They’re already strong on their own but can be even more so with Rocket’s Team-Up ability.
