World of Warcraft Season of Discovery Update Teases Scarlet Monastery Raid

As a long-time devotee of Azeroth, I must say that this Season of Discovery in World of Warcraft has been nothing short of exhilarating! Despite the occasional content droughts and delays that seem to plague every MMORPG, Blizzard’s unveiling of what’s to come for Season of Discovery is a beacon of hope.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but feel exhilarated about this year in the World of Warcraft universe! The game’s future is shining brighter than ever before. With the upcoming expansion, The War Within, promising fresh content, and Classic players having plenty to anticipate as well, it’s a golden age for Azeroth enthusiasts like myself.

The Version of the Game Called “Season of Discovery” has been well-received by longtime players. Although some fans are disappointed due to shortages in content and delays, Blizzard is sharing insights about what’s coming up for Season of Discovery, even suggesting fresh Classic World of Warcraft content on the horizon.

At BlizzCon 2023, developers gave a sneak peek at fresh, unprecedented content for Season of Discovery, potentially featuring the Scarlet Monastery or Karazhan Crypts as new raid locations. Now, during the unveiling of Phase 7 in Season of Discovery, Blizzard has subtly suggested that these ideas are coming to fruition.

What to Expect in Season of Discovery Phase 7 and Beyond

First, let’s discuss what’s coming shortly for Season of Discovery.

Tomorrow, following maintenance, our team is going to introduce a new vendor called the “Rune Broker.” This character will offer all starting-level runes for every class, eliminating the need for players to explore the world if they’re coming back to the game or managing alternative characters. Instead, they can acquire all necessary runes immediately from this vendor.

In the upcoming days, you’ll find Patch 1.15.6 – Season of Discovery Phase 7 making its debut on the Public Test Realm (PTR). Unlike previous patches, this one focuses primarily on testing for stability rather than introducing new content. Here’s a rundown of what you can expect based on Blizzard’s announcement:

  • A new set of shoulder enchants that allows you to utilize a single extra set bonus effect drawing from those found on sets in Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Temple of Ahn’Qiraj, Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj, and Zul’Gurub.
  • An early look at Naxxramas in Season of Discovery. We’ll post about this separately in the PTR forum, but we have some fun new surprises in store for you.
    • While this version of Naxxramas is still in development and is not fully complete, we want to give this a few rounds of PTR testing and get it into your hands as early as possible before the holidays.
  • The most dedicated PTR explorers may find a few other surprises out in the world that hint at some other new content coming in Phase 7 and beyond.

Following the debut of Phase 7, Blizzard subtly suggests upcoming content by sharing a tantalizing sneak peek of what appears to be a Scarlet Monastery raid. Although fresh content was recently introduced for the Season of Discovery, this new raid tier marks the first confirmed endgame raid content from the World of Warcraft development team that we’ve been informed about so far.
