Sonic 3 Cast Member Krysten Ritter Talks Jessica Jones MCU Return

Summary

  • Krysten Ritter tells Marvel Studios’ Brad Winderbaum to get Jessica Jones back to the MCU.
  • Daredevil: Born Again features various Defenders characters, but Jessica Jones’s return remains uncertain.
  • Ritter’s standout portrayal of Jessica Jones might make her return crucial despite the lack of confirmation.

As a movie buff with over two decades of immersion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I can confidently say that Krysten Ritter’s portrayal of Jessica Jones was nothing short of extraordinary. Her gritty performance and compelling depiction of a complex character have left an indelible mark on the Marvel landscape.

Actress Krysten Ritter, famously known for portraying Jessica Jones, posed a plausible inquiry concerning her character’s long-awaited comeback within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to a Marvel Studios executive.

It turns out that although Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and other Netflix Marvel shows were marketed as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), they were largely overlooked by Marvel Studios’ movies. When Netflix decided to end these shows, fans held out hope that Marvel Studios would incorporate these characters into the MCU properly. This wish became a reality when Marvel Studios announced plans for Daredevil: Born Again, with Charlie Cox returning as the Man Without Fear following brief appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Echo. Unfortunately, at this point, there’s no confirmation on whether Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones within the MCU.

During an interview with ComicBook.com to promote Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Ritter was told about comments Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation Brad Winderbaum made expressing that Jessica Jones was the Defenders character he most wanted to see in the MCU. Ritter was seemingly unaware of Winderbaum’s comments but enthusiastically reiterated her willingness to return as Jessica Jones and called on the Marvel Studios executive to make it happen since he’s the one who arguably can make that decision. “Brad Winderbaum said that? That’s really exciting to hear. Isn’t that the guy who makes the call?” Ritter said. “Come on, Brad! Let’s get it going. Let’s do it. I’ll be ready.”

In “Daredevil: Born Again,” Matt Murdock, played by Charlie Cox, will be joined by Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Vincent D’Onofrio as the Kingpin, and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher. However, it is Krysten Ritter’s character Jessica Jones from the Defenders saga who has been the most eagerly anticipated return, but an official announcement about her comeback is yet to be made. Ritter has posted cryptic messages on social media that some fans believe indicate a return of Jessica Jones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though it’s possible they are reading too much into these images as no concrete news regarding her return has been confirmed so far.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but feel a pang of regret if Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones doesn’t reappear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The first season of Jessica Jones was nothing short of phenomenal, and her performance is often compared to Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man or Chris Evans’ Captain America – two roles that I believe she could easily hold a candle to. She brought Jessica Jones to life in a way that left an indelible mark on Marvel media, making her absence a noticeable void.

It’s plausible that Ritter has shot some unseen scenes for Jessica Jones. Given the speculation about Spider-Man appearing in Daredevil: Born Again, it’s not impossible that Jessica Jones could reappear too. However, it’s important to note that at this point, her return is more of a wish than a confirmed fact. Fans might want to keep their expectations modest for now.

Jessica Jones is now available on Disney Plus.
