Boruto: The Fate Of The Other Tailed Beasts In The Story

As a long-time fan and follower of Naruto and now Boruto, I must say that I am quite disappointed with the current state of the Tailed Beasts in the series. Having grown up with the original storyline, I vividly remember the importance these powerful creatures played in the lives of Naruto and his friends. They were not just mere plot devices but integral characters who shaped the course of the story.

This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.

Summary

  • Kurama died in battle against Isshiki, leaving Naruto without a Tailed Beast.
  • The other Tailed Beasts are roaming freely in the world post-Fourth Great Ninja War.
  • The remaining Tailed Beasts could aid Naruto in gaining immense strength and protecting the world.

In the world of Naruto, the Tailed Beasts have consistently played a crucial role since their initial appearance alongside Kurama, Naruto’s personal Tailed Beast. It was clear from the start that these powerful entities would significantly contribute to advancing the narrative in thrilling fashion.

Initially in the anime series Naruto, only the Tailed Beast known as Kurama was believed to exist. Over time, however, it was revealed that there were more than just one. In the latter half of Naruto, viewers got a chance to witness each of these beasts individually. Initially portrayed as weapons, the Tailed Beasts underwent significant transformation by the end of the series, largely due to Naruto’s actions. By the finale of Naruto, most of the Tailed Beasts were seen roaming freely across the world, except for Kurama, who chose to stay with Naruto and Gyuki with Killer Bee. The future of the remaining Tailed Beasts remains uncertain.

Kurama’s Death In Boruto Changed The Tailed Beast Balance

  • Kurama died in the battle against Isshiki
  • Naruto Uzumaki was left without a beast

In the world of Boruto, there’s been quite a bit of speculation regarding the future of the Tailed Beasts. For example, we’ve seen Kurama play a significant role in the series, and tragically, he was lost during Naruto’s fight against Isshiki. This fight was an uphill battle for Naruto, as it seemed almost impossible for him to prevail in his current state. Recognizing this, fans knew that Naruto would need to advance to a higher level if he wanted any hope of defeating the formidable Isshiki. To address this challenge, Kurama proposed using Baryon Mode, a technique where both Naruto and Kurama’s chakra would be used as starting points to generate a new kind of energy. Unfortunately, Kurama perished when his chakra ran out, leaving Naruto Uzumaki without his Tailed Beast companion. Fans were deeply saddened by this turn of events.

Farewell, Naruto! Don’t join me anytime soon. – Kurama

Ever since Naruto started out, it took fans aback to contemplate a life for him where Kurama, such a formidable creature, wouldn’t be by his side anymore.

Beyond Kurama, another Tailed Beast familiar to fans is Gyuki, the eight-tailed creature. Gyuki played a crucial part in the Naruto storyline, particularly in demonstrating harmonious cooperation between the Tailed Beasts and their Jinchuriki. Specifically, it was Gyuki and Killer B who taught Naruto how to manage his Tailed Beast effectively. At the conclusion of the Fourth Great Ninja War, Gyuki had the option to leave but chose to stay due to his strong bond with Killer Bee. Since then, they have continued working together as a formidable team. However, in the Boruto series, Gyuki and Killer Bee are seldom present. Their current location is unknown, and it remains to be seen whether they’ll participate in the ongoing conflict against the Shinju. At this point, fans can only assume that Gyuki is still with Killer Bee and will take action if needed.

Where Are The Other Tailed Beasts?

The Other Tailed Beasts Are Roaming The World Freely

After the resolution of Kurama and Gyuki’s situations, viewers may find themselves curious about the whereabouts of the other Tailed Beasts. As viewers are aware, at the conclusion of the Fourth Shinobi World War, Naruto managed to liberate all the Tailed Beasts. Throughout the Naruto series, these beasts endured numerous hardships – they were forced into seals within people, transformed into weapons, collected inside the Gedo Statue, and finally chained using the power of the Rinnegan. To make matters worse, viewers witnessed their use in the resurrection of the Ten-Tails, and at one point, even saw them being used by Kaguya for her own purposes.

You guys are now free to roam around as you wish. – Hagoromo Otsutsuki

After believing that Kaguya’s threat had been vanquished and their freedom secured, Sasuke chose to imprison them using Chibaku Tensei. In essence, the Tailed Beasts endured much turmoil, and it wasn’t until they overcame these challenges that Naruto Uzumaki liberated them. Once released, the Tailed Beasts could travel wherever they desired. Apart from Kurama and Gyuki, all other Tailed Beasts were now free to explore the world as they pleased. However, their connection to Naruto remained intact, allowing them to link with his consciousness if a crisis should arise. This idea was intriguing when implemented in the Boruto series, but alas, it never materialized in reality.

Since the end of the Fourth Great Ninja War, fans haven’t been given any information about where the Tailed Beasts currently reside. Instead of being closely tied to Naruto and his adventures, they seem to be wandering independently. Previously, they were heavily involved in shaping the fate of the world and preventing the creation of chakra fruit. However, now it appears that they are untroubled by these matters, showing little to no concern. Neither have they contacted Naruto nor has the 7th Hokage felt compelled to involve them in current events. This lack of attention given to the Tailed Beasts may be due to poor writing on the author’s part, but hopefully, if the author chooses to address their role again in Two Blue Vortex, they will do so effectively.

Will The Remaining Tailed Beasts Play A Role In Boruto?

The Remaining Tailed Beasts Could Aid Naruto

It makes perfect sense to assume that the remaining Tailed Beasts will take on significant roles in the Boruto series, given their current relevance following Kurama’s demise. Fans are aware that Kurama has been reincarnated within Himawari Uzumaki, which means Naruto can no longer be reunited with his powerful companion. As Naruto’s power needs remain critical, he can’t keep depending on Sage Mode due to the embarrassment he experienced in previous battles. This leaves Naruto vulnerable and unable to safeguard himself, let alone the village, making him unsuitable for the role of Hokage.

Because of a crucial need, Naruto must strive to gain immense power, and this power could originate from the scattered Tailed Beasts. These beasts are currently roaming the globe, and their mission now is to team up with Naruto and safeguard the world. It’s essential to recall that the Tailed Beasts have a friendly relationship with Naruto, and they understand his predicament better than ever before – he needs assistance more than anyone to shield the planet. If Naruto manages to locate them, they would be happy to assist him and transfer their chakra to him. In fact, they might even fight alongside him, which could make for an engaging storyline in the Boruto series.

However, it appears the author has been reluctant to delve deeper into the concept of Tailed Beasts. Readers can anticipate that Two Blue Vortex may alter this and reintroduce them in the Boruto series, serving as a potential new power source for Naruto now that Kurama is no longer with him.
