As a dedicated Pokémon GO enthusiast who has been catching ’em all since the very beginning, I can hardly contain my excitement for what 2025 has in store! The announcement of Sprigatito as the first Community Day Pokémon of the new year is truly music to my ears. This little Grass-type starter has captured the hearts of many, thanks in no small part to its adorable appearance and prominent role in the Pokémon Horizons anime series.

In 2025, Sprigatito, the Grass-type starter Pokemon, will be the initial Pokemon GO Community Day Pokemon. Since January 2018, Pokemon GO has been hosting Community Day events. These events boost the appearance rate of particular Pokemon, making it much simpler for players to catch that Pokemon’s rare, shiny form. Additionally, Community Day events usually provide unique moves that players can acquire as well.

Since 2018, Pokemon GO’s Community Day events have consistently been a hit, happening at least once a month. Additionally, there are Community Day Classic events that allow players to reexperience missed Community Day events. It appears that in 2025, the first highlighted Pokemon for these events will be Sprigatito.

Niantic has shared a sneak peek suggesting that Sprigatito could be the featured Pokémon for the Pokémon GO Community Day in January 2025. The grass-type starter from Generation 9, Sprigatito, has garnered significant attention since its debut in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet games. Part of this popularity is due to Sprigatito’s role in the Pokémon Horizons anime series. Mark your calendars as the Sprigatito Community Day on Pokémon GO will occur on Sunday, January 5.

Pokemon GO: When is Sprigatito Community Day?

  • Sunday, January 5, 2025

Niantic has disclosed the complete schedule for Pokémon GO Community Day events during Season 17. The initial event is set for December 21-22, where Pokémon GO will see an abundance of the Community Day Pokémon that were highlighted throughout 2024. As per tradition, Pokémon GO players can look forward to numerous extra benefits on those days. With this in mind, anyone who may have paused their Pokémon GO adventure this year might want to return on December 21-22 to catch up.

On January 5, there will be a Sprigatito Community Day, with a Community Day Classic for Pokémon scheduled for January 25th. The specific Pokémon for the Community Day Classic on the 25th has not been disclosed yet, but it’s expected to be an older Pokémon that hasn’t appeared in a Classic event before. This means that Pokémon like Bulbasaur, Mudkip, Dratini, Larvitar, Swinub, Squirtle, Charmander, Mareep, Porygon, Bagon, Cyndaquil, and Beldum won’t be it. However, remember that Niantic might decide to re-run a previous event, so keep that possibility in mind as a fan of Pokémon GO.

Following this, the upcoming Community Day is set for February 9, 2025. This date should be a notable one for Pokemon GO enthusiasts as February 27 will also celebrate Pokemon Day, which could bring various exciting updates and announcements regarding the popular augmented reality mobile game.
