As a seasoned gaming enthusiast with over three decades of button-mashing under my belt, let me tell you that the latest patch for Tekken 8 has truly caught my attention! The addition of new features, adjustments to characters’ behavior, and performance tweaks are all music to my battle-weary ears.
On the 16th of December, there was an update released for Tekken 8 – version 1.10.1. This update introduced Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy 16 as a playable character and enhanced the photo mode. Additionally, this update included a player search function for online matches, making it easier to find opponents. Furthermore, a new penalty system was implemented where ranking points are deducted if a player disconnects during a ranked match.
In the role of the central character from Final Fantasy 16, Clive, has been unveiled as the fourth fighter in the Year 1 Pass for Tekken 8. This announcement was made during The Game Awards 2024, where a trailer showcased him battling Jin Kazama amidst the blazing remains of the Phoenix Gate. Initially, fans of Tekken 8 drew comparisons between Clive and the protagonist of Final Fantasy 15, Noctis, who featured as a DLC fighter in Tekken 7. Early access to Clive and the Phoenix Gate stage was granted on December 16 for those who bought the Playable Character Year 1 Pass. The general release of both Clive and his stage is scheduled for December 19.
With the introduction of Clive in Tekken 8, Patch 1.10.1 also rolled out exciting new features for gamers. After connecting to the internet and downloading patch 1.10.1 for Tekken 8, players will see some alterations upon game startup. A revamped photo mode has been introduced in Tekken 8, allowing players to add dirt and water effects to character poses, as well as modify expressions, gazes, and hand gestures during a shot. The updated photo mode in Tekken 8 also supports frame-by-frame adjustments at a speed of 60 frames per second. Apart from the photo mode enhancements, Patch 1.10.1 introduced a new player search feature that enables users to locate other players by name or Tekken ID. This can be followed up with actions such as friend requests, or blocking and reporting them.
In the latest update for Tekken 8, a fresh penalty system was implemented in ranked matches. This new system penalizes players who disconnect during a game by deducting ranking points from them. A message will pop up on the main menu to inform them of this reduction. Similar to previous updates like Patch 1.08 and 1.09, Update 1.10.1 made certain modifications to hitboxes and collision detection to rectify some unexpected actions. Characters such as Heihachi, Paul, and Eddy saw improvements with Patch 1.10.1, as some of their attacks were inadvertently missing their targets.
2024 is nearing its end, but 2025 will also include the continuation of Tekken 8’s storyline – Season 2. With additional features on the horizon, it remains to be seen what exciting developments Bandai Namco has prepared for Tekken enthusiasts in the upcoming year.
