How To Get The Lumafly Lantern

In the bustling town of Dirtmouth, you can purchase the Lumafly Lantern from a merchant named Sly. But keep in mind, if you haven’t thoroughly explored the Forgotten Crossroads region yet and haven’t saved him, you won’t locate Sly or his shop, as they will be out of business for now.

After rescuing Sly, his shop will be operational again, but do note that the merchandise there isn’t budget-friendly, especially during the initial phases of the game.

The Lumafly Lantern costs a whopping 1,800 Geo, which is not pocket change, especially considering how little Geo enemies drop at that point. That said, the Lumafly Lantern is a sound investment that will make your life much easier.

How To Rescue Sly

To save Sly, simply follow this path: Journey down from Dirtmouth to the Forgotten Crossroads region. Move left and carefully traverse through multiple platforms while staying close to the right wall. At the bottom, continue moving right. You’ll recognize your direction is correct if you encounter the Gruz Mother mini-boss. Defeat her, then carry on going right until you find a dilapidated shack. Inside, you’ll meet Sly—talk to him and then retrace your steps back to Dirtmouth. Upon return, you’ll notice Sly’s shop has opened, offering various items for purchase. The shop is situated on the left side of the resting bench in the area.

As a fellow enthusiast of Hollow Knight, let me share a tip that has helped me in my journey: When you find yourself stuck or falling short during gameplay, don’t hesitate to search for as many Mask Shards as possible. These shards increase the number of hits you can withstand, making combat less challenging and more enjoyable. However, some shards can only be found after advancing through the game to certain checkpoints. Still, even a few that you discover early on or purchase will significantly boost your chances of success.
