Helldivers 2 x Killzone 2 Cosmetics Price Backlash Gets a Response from the Devs

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say I have seen my fair share of in-game purchases that left me scratching my head. The latest controversy surrounding Helldivers 2 x Killzone 2 cosmetics is no exception. While I understand the need for developers to monetize their games, I believe the pricing strategy here might have missed the mark.

Yesterday saw the debut of cosmetic items from The Helldivers 2 that resemble those in Killzone 2, marking the game’s initial crossover event. Although many players are excited about this collaboration, they have taken to social media to voice their displeasure over the high prices associated with these items. In response to the community’s feedback, Arrowhead Game Studios’ CEO Shams Jorjani and CCO Johan Pilestedt have acknowledged the concerns and addressed them.

According to VG247’s report, a user on X noted to Pilestedt that they found the cost of Helldivers 2 x Killzone 2 cosmetics a bit expensive given it’s just half of the collaboration. Pilestedt expressed regret if the user felt this way and mentioned that the developers are considering all feedback received. Moreover, the CCO disclosed that initially, this partnership was intended to be a Warbond. However, they chose not to go ahead with it since the developers believed a higher-priced Warbond might generate negative sentiment.

In a subsequent communication, Jorjani admitted that his choice of words might have been improved. Essentially, he was trying to convey the idea that the success of the game would enable more features to be implemented. Part of “Omens of Tyranny” was developed in collaboration with other studios, which could not have happened without the backing of supporters who made supercredit purchases.
