Winter 2025 Preview: The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You Season 2

Summary

As a seasoned anime enthusiast with over two decades of watching and analyzing this vibrant genre, I must say that the upcoming second season of “The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You” has piqued my interest like no other. The first season was a rollercoaster ride of emotions, humor, and unexpected twists – a perfect blend for any anime fan.

2023 marked the debut of the anime adaptation of Rikito Nakamura and Yukiko Nozawa’s “The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You” manga. This season quickly became a strong candidate for both romance anime and romantic comedy anime of the year due to its distinctive, over-the-top twist on the commonly used anime harem trope.

The amusing journey persists as we approach the second season of the anime, where it’s anticipated that we’ll meet the next five destined love interests of main character Rentarō Aijō. Here are some exciting tidbits about the upcoming season 2 of Hyakkano , set to premiere in January, based on the manga and details shared regarding the series production.

What Can We Expect From Season 2

More Girlfriends, More Wackiness and More References to Other Media

In the opening scene, you may have deduced that Rentarō will encounter four new soulmates, each possessing unique personalities and embodying popular anime character archetypes in a unique way. Among these are a girl with an uncontrollable appetite when angry, reminiscent of Komi-san’s communication issues but sporting bangs; an ojō-san (a term for a young woman from a wealthy family); and a tomboy. The narrative will continue to impress as it meets audience expectations while also challenging them, starting with a rapid-fire Freaky Friday scenario to set the stage before introducing Kurumi Haraga, a food enthusiast who has an insatiable appetite due to her super-fast metabolism, which often leaves her in a state of hunger (and irritability), but Rentarō remains patient.

In due course, Kurumi and their other companions find themselves engaged in a food-eating contest to secure a unique dessert as the prize. An outlandish storyline reminiscent of “Dragon Ball DAIMA” unfolds, where the seven girlfriends are transformed into infants thanks to Kusuri’s pharmaceutical antics yet again. These are merely a few examples of the zany escapades that await you in season 2. The antics become even more extraordinary after Rentarō encounters his new soulmate for the season, an encounter hinted at by the manga to be wilder than the first.

Beginning this coming Sunday, January 12th, the second season of “The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You” will simultaneously air on Crunchyroll.
