New Anime from Rent-A-Girlfriend Creator Drops Trailer, Release Window

As a seasoned manga enthusiast with years of reading under my belt, I must say that the upcoming anime adaptation of “The Shiunji Family Children” has piqued my interest significantly! Having been engrossed in Reiji Miyajima’s works, specifically his hit series “Rent-A-Girlfriend,” I am thrilled to see him delve into another captivating tale.

Reiji Miyajima is primarily recognized for the creation of “Rent-A-Girlfriend,” a series that started serialization in 2017 and continues without an apparent end. Yet, it’s worth noting that he’s also working on another series titled “The Shiunji Family Children.” Unlike “Rent-A-Girlfriend,” which releases weekly chapters, the latter is published monthly in a magazine, with occasional breaks.

The Shiunji Family has been a recurring feature in Hakusensha’s Young Animal magazine since 2022 and currently spans over five published volumes. In the United States, Yen Press holds the licensing rights for this series. Notably, an anime adaptation of this manga was officially announced as early as February.

At long last, some new details have emerged! The initial trailer has been unveiled, setting the stage for the series to air in April 2025. The preview also offers a glimpse of the ending theme song, titled “LIKE YOU LOVE YOU?” sung by Chika Anzai, who voices Banri, Marika Kono as Seiha, Rie Takahashi as Oka, Hana Hishikawa as Minami, and Kana Ichinose as Kotono. Interestingly, these characters are portrayed as sisters in the narrative.

In this production, you’ll find Yuichiro Umehara portraying Arata Shiunji, who was Manabu Horikita in “Classroom of the Elite,” and Chiaki Kobayashi, known for her role as Louis James Moriarty in “Moriarty the Patriot,” playing Shion Shiunji.

Shiunji Family Main Staff

Studio Doga Kobo is handling the animation for this series. Ryouki Kamitsubo (known as HenSemi) is the director, while Noboru Kimura, who has worked on Solo Leveling, is penning the scripts. Miki Mutou serves as both the chief animator and character designer. Akki, Ginnojo Hoshi, and Shota Horie are responsible for the series’ music composition.

Plot Premise

The narrative centers on the affluent Shiiunji clan. When their youngest sister reaches fifteen years old, their father discloses that these siblings are not biologically related. This revelation could influence how Arata Shiunji, the eldest son who has never courted a girlfriend, interacts with his sisters, and you can imagine the potential consequences.

To date, there hasn’t been a confirmed international release for “The Shiunji Family Children” series. However, “Rent-A-Girlfriend” is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
