The next update to Warframe will revamp one of its historically weaker weapons, the Stug, by adding an Incarnon Adapter. These adapters, unlocked by completing the Angels of the Zariman quest, allow weapons to change during battle. Warframe has been using Incarnon Genesis adapters to improve older, underused weapons, making them effective for today’s gameplay.
Okay, so the Stug pistol in Warframe? Seriously needs a rework. It’s always been considered the absolute worst gun in the game, and for good reason. The stats are just… low. Plus, its secondary fire – those sticky, exploding shots – are more trouble than they’re worth. They constantly knock me down and mess up my aim! It used to be even worse because the explosions would actually damage me! But honestly, the new Incarnon mods, like the Thalys, are a game-changer. They’re making the best weapons even better, and I’m hoping they can finally bring the Stug up to par.
Warframe Is Finally Giving the Stug an Incarnon Adapter
During a recent preview of the Jade Shadows: Constellation update (Devstream 195), Digital Extremes announced that the Stug weapon will be getting an Incarnon adapter, a powerful upgrade. The Ballistica, Destreza, Obex, and Vectis weapons will receive this upgrade as well. While these new Incarnons were first shown in March 2026 during Devstream 194, a recent blog post officially confirmed they’ll be included in the next major Warframe update.
The Stug’s new Incarnon form was first previewed in the 100th Warframe developer video. The developers demonstrated a private version of the game, showing that this alternate form fires globs that explode into smaller, exploding projectiles – similar to a cluster bomb. Warframe’s creative director, Rebb Ford, wants to amplify the Stug’s notorious behavior and make it the core feature of its Incarnon mode. To manage the increased explosions, players might want to use flying Warframes like Uriel to stay safe from the resulting chaos.
Since the announcement, demand for the Stug has sharply increased within the game’s economy. Players are using websites like Warframe Market – a platform for buying, selling, and trading in-game items – and the price of Stug Rivens has jumped significantly. They’ve gone from averaging around 10 Platinum (the game’s tradable currency) to at least 200 Platinum, and even higher depending on their stats. While new Incarnon weapons usually increase the price of related items, the Stug’s popularity as a long-standing community joke has made it unusually valuable.
The new Stug Incarnon is a welcome addition, giving players a real incentive to use the weapon beyond just leveling up. It also highlights how Digital Extremes is increasingly relying on Incarnon upgrades to refresh older weapons instead of fully redesigning them. While Kuva and Tenet weapons offer a more balanced way to keep older content interesting without making the game too easy, Incarnon upgrades seem to be a quicker fix for underperforming weapons.
