As a seasoned player with countless hours logged into this game, I can confidently say that Mantis is my go-to healer. Her agility and versatility set her apart from other healers in the game. The Life Orbs system adds an exciting dynamic to her abilities, making each battle feel fresh and engaging.
A strategist is crucial for the survival of your team during a match, as they possess the ability to heal, protect, and weaken opponents on demand. Without them, opting for Duelists may be possible, but having at least one strategist in your squad can give you an advantage over the opposing team.
It’s crucial not just to include a strategist in your team, but also to collaborate closely with this individual. This partnership can pave the way for success. Moreover, it’s important to safeguard them, as opponents may target them specifically to undermine your team’s offensive efforts.
In summary, let’s delve into the various Strategists found within “Marvel Rivals” and explore their unique abilities as we rank them in our article titled “Marvel Rivals: All Strategists, Ranked.
7. Adam Warlock
Reincarnation Baby!
Abilities | Description |
---|---|
Karmic Revival | Revive allies with lower health and invincibility for a short period |
Soul Bond | Forge a soul bond with allies, granting Healing Over Time and distributing damage taken across the bond. |
Avatar Life Stream | Target an ally for bouncing streaming of healing energy, which also heals himself upon casting; self-targets if no ally is selected. |
Cosmic Cluster | Gather quantum energy into a cluster and then swiftly launch it at the enemy. |
Adam Warlock’s talents synergize with the chain effect, allowing you to interconnect foes and share damage received amongst them, while also restoring their health concurrently. However, unlike other Strategist characters, he lacks sufficient maneuverability to evade a flanker effectively.
If Black Panther, Magik, or Spider-Man are with him, it’s unlikely that he can avoid a fight, and he might not survive the encounter. His ability to team up with Mantis and Star-Lord is remarkable because they can revive someone who has been cocooned.
In my view, Adam Warlock truly excels in the Overtime phase, as he has the ability to resurrect the entire team at the objective, providing them with one final opportunity to secure victory. It’s crucial to stay close to your teammates and maintain a defensive posture with him, given his limited mobility.
If enemies attempt to target you, you won’t be able to escape their reach without perishing, but this triggers your passive ability. This allows you to move around freely and reforge yourself at a location of your choice.
Ultimately, the healing is great, but the long cooldown on Soul Bond and low mobility make him a very niche pick.
6. Rocket Raccoon
Healing Spheres? Or Balls?
Abilities | Description |
---|---|
C.Y.A. | Deploy a Cosmic Yarn Amplifier that grants allies a Damage Boost |
Jetpack Dash | Dash forward |
B.R.B. | Deploy a Battle Rebirth Beacon that revives a fallen ally and periodically produces armor packs and rocket jet packs. |
In simpler terms, Rocket Raccoon is easy to manage as a strategist, reminiscent of Overwatch’s Moira who heals her teammates by throwing orbs. Similarly, Rocket shoots healing spheres that bounce around. His C.Y.A ability can boost the damage of his allies and revive a fallen comrade using the B.R.B device.
Yet, the majority of the gear he uses is breakable, which implies a tactful adversary would focus on destroying his equipment to nullify his abilities. Additionally, his healing orbs may not always be effective when aiming at ally Flankers, as they possess high agility and are challenging to hit even with characters like Mantis or Luna Snow.
You can leverage his team-up skill to provide unlimited ammunition for The Punisher and Winter Soldier, allowing you to continuously fire the bouncing orbs in confined spaces.
It’s up to you; I find it difficult to play with two different weapons, and juggling between them is quite a hassle. I highly recommend having a dedicated healer while playing with Rocket Raccoon, since most of his skills grant buffs to allies.
5. Loki
Full Of Tricks
Abilities | Description |
---|---|
God Of Mischief | Shapeshift into any hero on the battlefield and use their abilities except for Team-up ones |
Regeneration Domain | Use Rune Stones to create a field that grants Healing Over Time and converts incoming damage to further healing |
Doppelganger | Project an Illusion to cast some of Loki’s abilities |
Devious Exchange | Swap with the selected Illusion |
Deception | Become Invisible and conjure an Illusion to deceive enemies |
Loki places Rune Stones that can self-destruct, healing nearby allies in the process. It’s fascinating how he can create several Illusions or simply fire off basic attacks, which in turn, heal his teammates.
To effectively position his duplicates, it’s crucial to think tactically as Loki is not like Adam Warlock who lacks the cunningness of the trickster. Loki can swiftly change positions or turn invisible to dodge a flanker, a vital skill for any Strategist. Without such evasive abilities, a Strategist could easily find themselves exposed and vulnerable, like a sitting duck waiting to be hunted.
While a cunning adversary, particularly those with area-of-effect or bouncing attacks such as Moon Knight or Squirrel Girl, can quickly eliminate his clones, you have the ability to spawn new Illusions, keeping them occupied due to the quick respawn rate. This makes it a bit of a two-sided advantage, where both sides have their strengths and weaknesses.
Ultimately, it’s his unique ability that I admire the most – he can mimic a hero’s skills (those displayed in combat) to transform into a hero capable of multiple kills and achieving strategic objectives.
It appears sound in theory, but when faced with an intelligent opponent’s team, they can dismantle your Illusions and Rune stones instantly, thereby crippling your healing abilities in the blink of an eye. That’s why Loki excels in lower skill-tier matches, but struggles in higher ones.
4. Jeff The Land Shark
Cute But Dangerous
Abilities | Description |
---|---|
It’s Jeff | Deep dive and resurface to swallow heroes within range, and eject them forward |
Hide And Seek | Dive into the scene with the exposed fin, granting himself a Movement Boost. Can heal himself while submerged and gains a wall-crawl ability |
Healing Bubble | Spit a bubble that heals the ally who collects it, granting them Movement and Healing Boost, while also Launching Up nearby enemies |
Jeff’s healing abilities are exceptionally potent, capable of restoring a tank’s health to maximum levels in a matter of moments.
Your task is simply to station yourself at the rear, recharge your energy supplies, emit bubbles that grant both healing and speed boosts to teammates, and ingest enemies to disrupt them from their objective. What makes this even funnier is his skill to slip beneath the scenery or scale walls, a technique that can aid flankers in their strategic maneuvers.
Despite not possessing Vulnerability effects similar to Cloak & Dagger, his extraordinary healing capabilities make him one of the top-tier healers in the game. Furthermore, you can utilize his Team-up abilities to climb aboard Groot’s shoulders or harness Luna Snow’s icy energy to unlock another skill that slows down enemies and restricts their mobility.
Though his kit helps him to escape from a potential flanker quickly, there’s nothing you can do to damage them. The hitbox is smaller when you go underground, but you’re unable to heal your team at all. What’s the use of survivability if you can’t heal?
Moreover, it’s worth noting that Jeff outshines the healers previously mentioned and could even match the top choices in terms of healing efficiency.
You can jump off the map along with enemies to stop them from using their abilities to come back.
3. Cloak & Dagger
Mult-Talented
Abilities | Description |
---|---|
Eternal Bond | Perform three dashes, healing allies, and damaging enemies along the path |
Shadow’s Embrace | Switch to Cloak/Dagger |
Veil Of Lightforce/Terror Cape | Deploy a Veil to heal allies upon touch/apply Blind and Vulnerability on enemies. |
Dagger Storm/Dark Teleportation | Creates a Healing-Over-Time field in the impact area/Enshroud allies, making them invisible and untargetable with a Movement Boost |
In my view, Cloak & Dagger is the most challenging character to strategize due to their highly adaptable toolkit. By using the Dagger, you can tap into healing capabilities: Veil of Lightforce, which is an aura that penetrates allies and forms a rectangular shield, and Dagger Storm, a hemispherical field that grants continuous healing over time.
In Dagger mode, your playstyle leans more toward defense, but when you’re using Cloak, you can blind opponents and make them vulnerable for higher damage. Similar to Scarlet Witch, you can deal damage to enemies and teleport invisibly to shield allies, providing them with a speed boost.
In my opinion, the healing effectiveness seems rather limited during intense fights. Opting for Cloak or Dagger instead of maintaining heals could leave your team exposed and vulnerable.
Regardless of whether you employ the Veil to conceal yourself, its brief lifespan won’t be enough for an escape from your opponents. To ensure a safer flight, it’s advisable to team up Cloak & Dagger with another healer such as Jeff, Mantis, or Adam Warlock.
2. Luna Snow
Swagger
Abilities | Description |
---|---|
Fate Of Both Worlds | Toggle between Healing or Damage Boost |
Ice Arts | Fire ice shards for a short duration, damaging enemies or healing allies while restoring her own Health |
Share the Stage | Attach Idol Aura to an ally which restores their health while Luna Snow heals others |
Absolute Zero | Cast a clump fo ice to Freeze an enemy and restore Health |
To your left and right, stand firm! I must say, that was quite impressive, wasn’t it? Luna Snow’s fundamental attacks are simply outstanding. You can heal your teammates or harm opponents with them, which is fantastic considering there are a dozen characters engaged in the battlefield.
Similar to Mantis, she’s highly agile, regenerates health, and receives a Movement Boost, making her a strong contender for top positions. Just like Mantis, she possesses crowd control capabilities, temporarily Freezing enemies. However, her standout ability is Share The Stage, which allows her to keep Flankers, who often find themselves distant from the team, in check.
As a gamer, I can tell you that this character’s unique ability lets me automatically heal them when I’m healing others, boosting their survival chances against enemy strategists lurking in the backlines. The icing on the cake is her Ice Art’s piercing effect, which allows me to heal allies and harm enemies in a straight line, perfectly complementing her overall kit. Simply put, her abilities are nothing short of amazing!
Despite having reduced ability to move vertically, she excels at controlling crowds, which aids in pinning down flanking opponents. In essence, she’s ideal for healing, managing crowds, and maintaining mobility.
1. Mantis
Go To Sleep
Abilities | Description |
---|---|
Spore Slumber | Throw a spore to sedate the nearest enemy |
Soul Resurgence | Provide Healing Over Time and Movement Boost for surrounding allies, converting excess healing to Bonus Health. |
Allied Inspiration | Consume Life Orbs to grant allies a Damage Boost |
Natural Anger | Consume Life Orbs to grant herself a Damage Boost |
Healing Flower | Consume Life Orbs to grant allies Healing Over Time |
Mantis derives her skills from Life Orbs, which can be acquired following a successful critical hit with standard attacks. Unlike characters such as Luna Snow and Cloak & Dagger, Mantis’ basic attacks do not restore the health of allies. In my view, this design choice is beneficial because Mantis’ healing capabilities are quite powerful, while her basic attacks deliver a strong impact.
She doesn’t have a cooling period on her healing; you just need Life Orbs. What I appreciate most about her is her Sedate skill, which temporarily puts an opponent to sleep. I often use this ability on Black Panther, Psylocke, or Spider-Man because they can quickly close the gap and easily spot me.
Apart from empowering herself and her team with Damage Enhancement and Mobility Enhancement, she also gains a Mobility Boost and Regenerative Healing by consuming Life Orbs, significantly increasing her resilience. One crucial aspect to bear in mind is adapting to her swift and nimble playstyle.
You can still use other abilities during Mantis’ ultimate, Soul Resurgence.
