The Shiba Family

It’s interesting to note that the protagonist of Bleach, Ichigo Kurosaki, is actually a member of an esteemed clan within the Soul Society – the Shiba family. Many fans may not be aware of this fact. The Shiba family is one of the five noble families in the Soul Society, but they lost their noble status following the death of their most prominent member. Kaien Shiba, who was the lieutenant of Squad 13 and the head of the clan, passed away, leading his younger sister, Kuukaku, to take over the family leadership. So far, on Ichigo’s journeys, both Kuukaku and her brother Ganju have helped him without revealing that they are actually Ichigo’s cousins.

This is why Shunsui often displays a very protective demeanor towards her.

Next, we encounter an unusual scenario, specifically the case of Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi and his creation, Nemu Kurotsuchi, also known as Nemuri Number 7. Nemu is the first successful product of the Nemuri Project, which represents Mayuri’s ambition to craft a self-evolving artificial soul. Unlike other subjects, Nemu not only survived but also developed, gained consciousness, and evolved throughout her life. Despite Mayuri’s frequently harsh and violent behavior towards Nemu, their bond can be seen as reminiscent of a father and daughter relationship.
