Boruto: Will Sarada Surpass Sasuke’s Legacy?

Summary

  • Boruto introduces characters surpassing Naruto and Sasuke’s power.
  • Sarada Uchiha gains significant power-ups in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, matching her counterparts.
  • Speculation suggests Sarada may surpass Sasuke through a powerful Mangekyou Sharingan or even Rinnegan.

As a long-time fan of Naruto and now Boruto, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation when it comes to Sarada Uchiha. Having followed her journey since she was just a child, I’ve grown to admire her tenacity, determination, and the unique path her power seems to be taking.

Following the end of the Naruto storyline, Naruto and Sasuke were considered the pinnacle of strength, leaving little chance for any shinobi to match their influence. But in the sequel series, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, this belief has been challenged by characters who have outdone Naruto and Sasuke’s achievements. The arrival of the Otsutsuki clan, coupled with the Karma Mark, means that Naruto and Sasuke’s power levels are significantly lower than these latest characters.

Additionally, the idea that each new generation can excel beyond their predecessors is demonstrated by characters like Sarada Uchiha. Unlike other characters in the Boruto series who have inherited Otsutsuki DNA or extraordinary power-ups, Sarada doesn’t possess these advantages. Yet, she keeps up with her peers and it seems plausible that she will surpass her father, Sasuke Uchiha, in skill and ability.

Sarada’s Current Strength in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex

Sarada Has Recieved Some Power-Ups

Initially, at the conclusion of the initial arc of Boruto, Sarada found herself trailing behind her peers. However, once we move into the storyline known as Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Sarada has noticeably enhanced her abilities, regaining attention and recognition. A pivotal factor in Sarada’s power growth is evident in the awakening of her Mangekyou Sharingan – a development that she achieved due to feelings of affection for Boruto.

Beyond acquiring the Mangekyou Sharingan, I, Sarada, have spent the past three years honing my skills, a fact that suggests I now possess formidable power, making me an invaluable asset to Boruto and our team. Though the details of any additional abilities or power-ups I’ve gained remain shrouded in the pages of the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga, what is certain is that I have awakened my clan’s Kekkei Genkai and developed a strength reminiscent of my mother. I eagerly anticipate unveiling more of my potential as our journey unfolds!

My target is… Sarada Uchiha… – Hidari

Although Sarada appears to have some power enhancements, it has been shown that she doesn’t possess enough raw strength to fight off her adversaries independently yet. In her battle against Hidari, a Shinju, Sarada struggled to hold her own. On the verge of defeat, Boruto intervened at the last moment and rescued her. This suggests that Sarada has not fully unleashed her full potential. However, it’s important to note that early in the fight, Sarada managed to land a few strikes against Hidari, who is rumored to be stronger than Sasuke Uchiha. Even Hidari himself was taken aback by Sarada’s strength, demonstrating her progress after the time skip. Nevertheless, it was evident that she couldn’t stand up against powerful enemies or match the might of Boruto and others in their group.

How Will Sarada Surpass Sasuke?

Sarada Will Require a More Powerful Dojutsu

It’s widely debated how Sarada might outshine Sasuke Uchiha’s legacy, an accomplishment that is exceptionally challenging. One plausible scenario is that Sarada develops incredibly potent Mangekyou Sharingan abilities that significantly exceed Sasuke’s. This possibility is even stronger due to the unique way Sarada awakened her Mangekyou Sharingan, which was through love rather than hate. However, even with a fully activated Mangekyo Sharingan, Sarada would not match Sasuke’s power without the Rinnegan.

It’s quite unlikely that Sarada will activate the Rinnegan, as the Boruto series hasn’t given us any hints suggesting she could obtain this power. Nevertheless, there’s a small chance it might happen because Sarada may inherit some of Sasuke’s remaining Six Paths chakra. This is speculative, but if Sarada does awaken the Rinnegan, it could be due to the genetic traits passed down from the Sage of Six Paths’ powers that are within Sasuke.

Why Is It Important For Sarada to Surpass Sasuke?

Sarada’s Power-Up Is Necessary For Her to Stay On Par With Boruto

Fans of “Boruto” might think that Sarada doesn’t have to outshine Sasuke because it could diminish his importance in “Naruto”. However, Sarada surpassing Sasuke is consistent with the idea that each new generation should exceed the previous one, a concept that has been present in “Naruto” up until “Boruto”. Moreover, “Boruto” primarily centers around the next generation of ninjas, including Kawaki, Boruto, Mitsuki, and Sarada. Keeping Sarada in Sasuke’s shadow throughout the entire series would be unfair to her character development.

In the storyline of “Boruto: Two Blue Vortex,” the enemies now exhibit divine abilities, and the appearance of Shinju has made things even more intense in terms of power levels. To keep Sarada central to the plot, she needs a substantial power increase, possibly a super-strong Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan or Rinnegan. As Sarada continues to match her peers, it’s likely that she will outshine Sasuke and his accomplishments.

Boruto is available to stream on Prime Video.
