Solana ETF Approval Expected in 2025, Insider Predicts

As a researcher who has been closely observing the cryptocurrency market for the past few years, I must admit that 2021 was indeed a remarkable year for Solana (SOL). If you exclude Bitcoin (BTC), it’s fair to say that Solana was the altcoin that shone the brightest. The surge in network activity within its ecosystem and the parallels with Nvidia’s dynamics were intriguing, to say the least.

In the latter part of 2021, Solana-based decentralized exchanges outperformed their Ethereum counterparts, a feat that was quite impressive. However, Ethereum still holds the crown when it comes to the launch of a spot Ethereum ETF, which remains a missing piece in Solana’s puzzle.

Looking ahead to 2025, I can’t help but feel optimistic about Solana’s potential. Nate Geraci’s prediction of an exchange-traded fund for Solana seems plausible, especially considering the changing tide in the U.S. administration and the SEC. The top eight ETF launches of 2024 being all crypto-related is a clear indication that the demand for such products is there, and it’s now up to the regulators to make a move.

On a lighter note, I can’t help but wonder if 2025 will also see the launch of a ‘Solana Cat’ ETF. After all, who doesn’t love those adorable digital pets? But until then, we wait and watch, with bated breath, as the cryptocurrency market continues to evolve at breakneck speed.

2021 was undeniably a successful year for Solana (SOL), particularly among altcoins, or any cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin (BTC). The activity within the Solana network expanded by approximately 83% in the past year. This growth can be attributed to several factors, including the popularity of meme coins and the emergence of artificial intelligence projects. During the first half of the year, these factors made the trends of Nvidia and SOL prices remarkably similar.

During the final quarter of the year, decentralized exchanges on the Solana network surpassed their counterparts on Ethereum not once, but twice. For instance, on November 22nd alone, the trading volume of these exchanges surpassed an impressive $100 billion.

In terms of one key area, Ethereum continues to dominate Solana, specifically regarding the introduction of a spot Ethereum ETF, a financial instrument that had previously been exclusive to Bitcoin. Contrastingly, applications for a Solana ETF were submitted by issuers during the spring; however, as of now, no such solution is available, meaning 2021 will come and go without it.

Solana 2025 prediction

It appears that according to Nate Geraci, the president of ETF Store, 2025 could be the year when an exchange-traded fund for the widely used alternative cryptocurrency might debut on the market.

During this timeframe, many cryptocurrency market players anticipate the approval of a Solana Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF), which is largely dependent on the shift in power in the U.S. government, especially the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

2025 presents unprecedented importance, as Geraci emphasized an intriguing detail: the leading eight Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) launches in 2024 are all crypto-focused, consisting of four Bitcoin spot ETFs, two Ethereum spot ETFs, and two MicroStrategy stock ETFs. This is a significant number when considering that it represents about 1% of the total 740 new ETFs launched.

The need for more crypto exchange-traded funds (ETFs) is clearly evident, leaving the decision in the hands of regulatory bodies now.
