XRP Defends Its Crown as XLM Loses Momentum

Recently, U.Today discussed a potential scenario where Stellar’s token, XLM, might surpass its primary competitor, XRP. The essence of this forecast suggested that the price of 1 XLM could exceed the 0.2 XRP mark on the 200-day moving average compared to XRP.

Consequently, that potential didn’t come to fruition. As it struggled to sustain the essential price trend, XLM experienced a drop in value compared to XRP. Over the past few days, the token has decreased by more than 10%, now worth approximately 0.17 XRP.

Stellar (XLM) and Ripple’s XRP share many similarities, as Jed McCaleb, a significant contributor to the development of Ripple, went on to co-found Stellar afterwards. Since then, they have been rivals, each striving for dominance in the realm of blockchain transactions.

In contrast to XRP, which primarily caters to the needs of banks and big businesses, Stellar concentrates on delivering straightforward financial services to individual users.

XRP vs. XLM

Currently, XLM appears to be less robust in this particular aspect compared to XRP. Yet, both assets have a history of significant fluctuations, with periods of impressive growth alternating with dramatic declines. This dynamic performance suggests that speculations about XLM potentially outperforming XRP continue to persist.

By comparing the performance of XLM to XRP, it’s evident that XLM saw a 20% increase during the initial week of January. However, the subsequent dip in value has essentially erased half of that growth, suggesting a balanced or normal market adjustment.

In terms of XLM, since the glass appears half full for its supporters, it might initiate an upward trend compared to XRP from this point onward. This implies that although the present circumstances seem to lean towards XRP, it would be premature to dismiss XLM entirely.
