According to Pompliano, Trump is expected to withdraw Staff Accounting Bulletin No. 121 (SAB 121). At present, this regulatory guideline makes it difficult for banks to own digital assets. Instead of being classified as assets, digital assets must currently be classified as liabilities. If this regulation is withdrawn, it would enable banks to hold Bitcoin for their customers.

According to Pompliano, this move will not only significantly increase institutional interest in cryptocurrency but also enable American banks to compete more effectively with banks worldwide.

Secondly, Pompliano suggests that Trump should consider creating a national Bitcoin reserve. According to him, the U.S. government already owns approximately 200,000 Bitcoins. Therefore, his recommendation is not to sell these Bitcoins, but rather to hold them as a form of storage and shield against inflation.

Pompliano’s final advice to Trump is to carry out tax reforms. Currently, Bitcoin is still viewed as property, which means that capital gains taxes must be paid on transactions involving cryptocurrency. For daily transactions, this undoubtedly poses a problem.
