Summary
- Bot Lane diversity in League of Legends has expanded to include marksmen, mages, and fighters, providing more strategic options.
- The best Bot Laners are subject to frequent meta shifts due to biweekly patches, requiring adaptation and experimentation.
- Key Bot Lane champions like Caitlyn, Ezreal, and Miss Fortune offer unique strengths and playstyles, appealing to a range of player preferences.
In the world of League of Legends, the Bot Lane is consistently known for its excitement and unpredictability because it boasts twice as many champions compared to other lanes. Previously, Support characters primarily guarded and engaged in combat alongside ADCs or marksmen. However, nowadays, you’ll see a wider variety of characters, such as mages, becoming more popular in the Bot Lane than before.
Since the rankings among the top Bot Laners in League change every other week due to updates, they may not stay on top for a long time. Therefore, it’s ideal to play them now while you can, as some champions tend to maintain their strength within the gameplay meta for an extended period, especially if they are considered balanced.
9. Nilah
Win Rate: 52.8% – Pick Rate: 1.7%
- Difficulty: Hard
In the world of League of Legends, Nilah is often categorized as a fighter, but this doesn’t prevent players from dominating the Bot Lane with her. The primary reason for this rapid snowball effect lies in her passive ability, Jubilant Veil, which enables Nilah to reap some of the advantages her teammates gain from shields and healing.
Indeed, teaming her up with the tank-like champion Taric proves to be an extraordinarily powerful duo. In the Bot Lane, one of her key skills lies in her W ability that temporarily shields her from enemy attacks, which is typically the primary method for adversary ADCs to inflict damage.
8. Twitch
Win Rate: 51.9% – Pick Rate: 4.9%
- Difficulty: Medium
In team fights, Twitch can inflict significant damage, particularly when opponents line up neatly for him to strike. However, he needs to amass several items initially to reach his full strength. Additionally, having enchanter Support characters by his side enhances his survivability and boosts his damage output. Historically, Lulu has been an excellent choice as a teammate for Twitch.
In the long run, farming and scaling can be effective, but top-tier Twitch players often rely on stealthy maneuvers for surprise attacks resulting in sneaky kills, as well as extensive roaming to mid lane and other areas to gain an edge.
7. Caitlyn
Win Rate: 49.8% – Pick Rate: 16.5%
- Difficulty: Medium
In the League, Caitlyn stands out as the ADC with the farthest reach, making her a formidable threat in Bot Lane, often dominating and maintaining her lead. Compared to many other ADCs, she may attack at a slower pace, but each strike packs a significant punch, particularly when she’s prepared a headshot or an enemy falls victim to her traps or net.
Although experienced players excel at using Caitlyn’s complex combo sequences and aggressive gameplay strategies, beginners can still effectively utilize her character due to her accessibility. Her ultimate move, in particular, can be used by anyone to secure kills at the end of a fight.
6. Ezreal
Win Rate: 49.8% – Pick Rate: 18.8%
- Difficulty: Hard
Ezreal is undeniably one of the most enjoyable Bot Lane champions due to his almost all projectile abilities for attacking enemies. However, if players miss their skill shots, he deals minimal damage. On the other hand, those who can consistently land their skills transform Ezreal into a significant threat throughout the game, whether it’s harassing in lane or dominating team fights in the late game.
As an avid fan, I’d like to highlight one of Ezreal’s standout traits that sets him apart from typical ADCs in League: his instant escape mechanism activated with E key. This feature shields him effectively against pesky Blitzcrank hooks and other potent abilities during lane skirmishes. Plus, as the game progresses and I land my abilities, the cooldown on this handy getaway tool decreases, enabling me to reposition myself smoothly and frequently.
5. Kog’maw
Win Rate: 53.4% – Pick Rate: 2.3%
- Difficulty: Medium
Kog’maw, in the game, is among the least mobile marksmen but can swiftly deplete enemy health bars with rapid attacks that also deal damage based on percentage health. To maximize his potential, players should strike a balance between avoiding danger and pushing into it by mastering skillful kiting techniques.
Generally speaking, Kog’Maw performs optimally when he needs just one item to connect online. His performance improves significantly with teammates who can boost his damage or enhance his movement speed. Additionally, Kog’Maw has several skill shots at his disposal, especially his ultimate move, which can easily eliminate enemies from a distance.
4. Vayne
Win Rate: 52.7% – Pick Rate: 4.8%
- Difficulty: Hard
As a devoted fan, I must admit that mastering Vayne isn’t exactly a walk in the park within the realm of League. However, once you get the hang of her mobility, she has the potential to dominate games, especially when equipped with a few choice items. The short reach she has can make the initial stages challenging against long-range Bot Lane combinations. Yet, this tight lane also offers ample chances to immobilize enemies by pushing them into walls using her E skill.
If Vayne manages to survive the initial game phase fairly well, she can then dominate battles by darting in and out, particularly utilizing her ultimate ability that renders her invisible whenever she rolls with Q. Vayne is particularly proficient at eliminating tanks due to her Silver Bolts, which dish out damage proportional to HP every third attack.
3. Corki
Win Rate: 51.3% – Pick Rate: 11%
- Difficulty: Medium
For quite some time following his rework, Corki has been scarcely seen on the Bot Lane, instead settling into the Mid Lane as a hybrid between a marksman and a mage. However, the Daring Bombardier is now back in the Bot Lane and may well be here to stay. Similar to many top-tier ADCs in League, Corki has impressive scaling abilities and can deal an incredible amount of damage.
His initial gameplay is surprisingly robust, rather than weak, making it one of his most effective stages in the game. Even seasoned players might find this unexpected. He skillfully attacks enemies from a secure distance and can counter both engagements and ganks with his W ability to dart away. In addition, he can employ Valkyrie to amplify his own support’s engagements, and during this stage, his damage, bolstered by Sheen or Trinity Force, is particularly formidable.
2. Jinx
Win Rate: 51.3% – Pick Rate: 18.2%
- Difficulty: Medium
Jinx will consistently remain among the most frequently chosen ADCs, a status that has been strengthened by her lead role in Arcane. Renowned for being one of the top hyper carries, she excels at dominating team battles with her increasing power and speed after each kill, thanks to her passive – Get Excited! (Informal)
Or
Jinx has solidified her place as one of the most widely-used ADCs, a position that was further bolstered by her prominent role in Arcane. Known for being an elite hyper carry, she’s adept at taking control of team fights with her growing power and speed following each kill due to her passive – Get Excited! (Formal)
With her Area of Effect (AOE) rockets, Jinx now boasts extended reach and the ability to harm numerous enemies simultaneously. Conversely, her minigun is potent against tanks, towers, and formidable creatures. To add to this, her long-range ultimate finishes off even the most resilient opponents. However, it should be noted that Jinx’s mobility leaves much to be desired. She can slow down pursuers with her W or completely block their path with Chomper traps.
1. Miss Fortune
Win Rate: 53% – Pick Rate: 16.9%
- Difficulty: Easy
Miss Fortune frequently stands out as one of the top Bot Laners in League, owing to her impressive performance in lanes and team fight capabilities. By striking low-health minions with her Q – Love Tap, she can significantly weaken opponents, simultaneously slowing them down with her E. Each of her auto attacks carries considerable impact, particularly when she switches targets to activate her passive damage.
Her standout feature, albeit notorious, lies in her ultimate skill, which shoots bullets continuously over several seconds in a broad arc. This destructive blast obliterates enemies ensnared by her support or teammates’ traps. Skilled Marksman Forward (MF) players masterfully determine the optimal angle and position for this devastating attack.
