Sailor Moon: Sailor Jupiter’s 10 Strongest Attacks, Ranked

Sailor Jupiter was the fourth Sailor Scout to join Sailor Moon’s team. She quickly proved to be a valuable fighter thanks to her incredible strength. Her attacks are particularly powerful, even compared to the other Sailor Scouts.

Sailor Jupiter has a lot of different attacks throughout the Sailor Moon series. This list ranks them by power, so you can find out which one is her most devastating move.

Flower Hurricane

Appears in Sailor Moon Manga, Sailor Moon Crystal, Sailor Moon Video Games and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon

Flower Hurricane is mainly used to confuse enemies and interrupt their attacks, similar to abilities other Sailor Senshi have, like Sailor Mercury’s. While it’s best at creating diversions, it can also deal some damage.

Sailor Jupiter’s attacks are dangerous because she creates sharp leaves around herself that can seriously harm her opponents.

Jupiter Double Axel

Appears in Various Sailor Moon Video Games

Sailor Jupiter has a signature move often seen in video games. While it doesn’t deal a lot of damage, it’s instantly recognizable. The move shows off her ice skating ability – a skill that’s part of who she is and also affects how she fights, as she spins while attacking.

I always found it interesting – the move seems a bit harsh, but it actually helps her defend against attacks. It’s a little difficult to picture in the anime series itself, but it’s one of her signature moves, a classic she uses often. While there are plenty of other attacks that show up in the video games, they don’t quite have the same impact or creativity. The Jupiter Double Axel really stands out – if you ever played a game like Sailor Moon S: Jougai Rantou!? Shuyaku Soudatsusen, I’m sure you’ll remember it!

Supreme Thunder

Appears in Sailor Moon Manga, Sailor Moon Original Anime, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal

Sailor Jupiter’s first attack involves calling down the power of thunder and lightning. She channels this energy through her tiara, creating a powerful electrical blast to strike her opponents.

This is a surprisingly strong attack for her first move, comparable to the power of Sailor Jupiter, a dependable fighter among her friends. It’s a consistent attack, appearing throughout all versions of the story – the original anime, Sailor Moon Crystal, the live-action series, and even the stage musicals.

Supreme Thunder Dragon

Appears in Sailor Moon R Original Anime and Sailor Moon Video Games

The original anime often featured heroines with stronger versions of their signature moves. For Sailor Jupiter, this enhanced attack was called Supreme Thunder Dragon.

This attack wasn’t very well-known and only appeared in a single episode, which is surprising given its unique design – it fires electricity shaped like a dragon. While stronger than Supreme Thunder, it wasn’t as powerful as some of Sailor Jupiter’s later moves. Interestingly, it’s featured as one of Sailor Jupiter’s attacks in the Sailor Moon R game for Super Nintendo, making it a nostalgic favorite for some fans.

Sparkling Wide Pressure

Appears in Sailor Moon Manga, Sailor Moon R Original Anime and Sailor Moon Crystal

Sailor Jupiter’s tiara, which acts as a lightning rod, is once again the origin of her strength. Her ‘Sparkling Wide Pressure’ attack is a more powerful version of her abilities and is her signature move in Sailor Moon R.

While Supreme Thunder proved popular with viewers, Sparkling Wide Pressure immediately captured fans’ attention due to its dazzling display. Sailor Jupiter gathers electricity from a lightning rod, concentrates it into a powerful energy ball, and then releases it. The attack shares similarities with Sailor Moon’s signature move, but boasts the added spectacle and force of electrical energy.

Super Supreme Thunder

Appears in Sailor Moon S Original Anime

Traditional attacks remain the most well-loved, which is why we continue to see stronger variations emerge. Following the introduction of Supreme Thunder and Supreme Thunder Dragon, the anime series then featured the even more powerful Super Supreme Thunder.

As anticipated, this is the strongest form of Supreme Thunder. Sadly, it only appeared once in the series. It would have been great to see Sailor Jupiter use this powerful attack more often to overcome her opponents – a real missed chance!

Jupiter Thunderbolt

Appears in Sailor Moon Manga, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal

In the live-action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon series, Sailor Jupiter has a signature attack. She uses her Sailor Star Tambourine, a gift from Artemis, to perform it. However, the attack is depicted differently in Sailor Moon Crystal, and she doesn’t need the tambourine. In the anime version, Sailor Jupiter gathers energy in both hands, using her lightning rod, and then shoots it at her opponent.

In the live-action series, Sailor Jupiter fights by unleashing a strong lightning attack on her opponents. A later version of this attack is even more powerful, using an energy star to inflict greater damage.

Jupiter Coconut Cyclone

Appears in Sailor Moon Manga, Sailor Moon Crystal and in Various Sailor Moon Video Games

A surprising element in Sailor Moon Crystal—also found in the original manga and games like Sailor Moon Another History—is a particular attack. Interestingly, this same attack appears in the opening sequence of the original Sailor Moon S anime, but it’s never actually used during the show itself.

She also fires an energy ball, a move reminiscent of Sparkling Wide Pressure, but this one is blue and created by spinning quickly. Sailor Jupiter’s ice skating background gives her the ability to spin at incredible speeds – a skill that’s a key part of Makoto Kino’s character.

Jupiter Oak Evolution

Appears in Sailor Moon Manga, Sailor Moon Super S Original Anime and Sailor Moon Eternal

Jupiter Oak Evolution marks a big shift in how Sailor Jupiter uses her powers. While she’s always been known for electricity-based attacks, this new ability lets her tap into the energy of nature itself.

This connection stems from the fact that the Japanese kanji character for the planet Jupiter is identical to the kanji for tree. This surprising link is a key theme in the series and unlocks new abilities for Makoto. When she uses her Jupiter Oak Evolution attack, Sailor Jupiter fires a rapid stream of energy balls at her enemies.

Self-destruction

Appears in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon

Sailor Jupiter has a powerful, ultimate attack that appears only in the live-action version of the series. It’s similar to a sacrifice made by the character Chiaotzu from Dragon Ball, and involves Sailor Jupiter gathering energy with her enemy held tightly behind her, channeling the power of thunder.

She gathered all of the thunder’s energy, channeling it into herself with a massive burst of power. Sadly, this act of heroism came at the cost of her own life, allowing her friends to be saved.
