DOGE’s Daring Dude Ditches DOGE: Vivek’s Voyage to Vie for Viceroy of Ohio

The Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, had a simple task: let go of all but one leader. And so, they did. Vivek Ramaswamy, former presidential candidate and entrepreneur, stepped down as one of the co-heads of DOGE.

Just hours into President Trump’s second term, Ramaswamy declared his resignation, leaving Elon Musk to take the solo quarterback role of the advisory group. Their mission? To implement cost-cutting measures, of course!

A New Chapter in Ohio

Ramaswamy’s departure seems to mark the beginning of a new chapter in his political career. He thanked DOGE for helping him start the group and shared memories of his time there on social media on January 21.

He didn’t specify what his next move would be, but he indicated that an announcement is coming soon. And we can’t help but wonder, will it involve a certain canine-themed cryptocurrency? šŸ•

It was my honor to help support the creation of DOGE. Iā€™m confident that Elon & team will succeed in streamlining government. Iā€™ll have more to say very soon about my future plans in Ohio. Most importantly, weā€™re all-in to help President Trump make America great again!

Sources close to Ramaswamy reveal that he is gearing up to contest the governor’s post in his home state, Ohio. Talk about perfect timing! With Gov. Mike DeWine’s second and final term coming to an end in early 2027, Ramaswamy might just become a rising star in the Republican Party.

Tensions Within DOGE Before His Exit

Ramaswamy’s exit from DOGE may not have been a totally smooth affair. Rumors are swirling about increased conflict between Ramaswamy and Elon Musk, apparently over issues of priorities.

In December, he published a post on his social media account taking a dig at aspects of American culture, which apparently didn’t sit well with Musk.

Even the insiders have branded their working relationship as tense because Musk feels that the fact that Ramaswamy is focused both on DOGE and his political ambitions is unsustainable.

These tensions ā€” coupled with DOGEā€™s policy that bars members from engaging in political campaigns ā€” made his resignation almost inevitable.

DOGE Downsized Ambitions

DOGE, which had promised to reduce the federal budget by $2 trillion, has come under attack for scaling down the target to $1 trillion.

Musk recently acknowledged the revision, calling it a ā€œrealisticā€ goal, though it has raised questions about the groupā€™s impact.

President Trump first introduced the Department of Government Efficiency last month, which appeared to be a subtle allusion to Muskā€™s chosen cryptocurrency, Dogecoin.

A Turning Point

Some viewed Ramaswamy bidding adios to DOGE as a deliberate move towards a political position. Others saw it as a step backward. But one thing’s for sure: Ramaswamy is still aiming to ā€œmake America great again,ā€ and especially as the Ohio governor election of 2026 approaches.
