One Piece Episode 1161 Review

Episode 1161 of One Piece largely revolved around Luffy meeting Loki, who claimed to be the Sun God and harbinger of the world’s destruction. The episode began with Luffy celebrating the Straw Hats’ successful arrival at Elbaph without any major damage to their ship.

I watched as Loki seemed really annoyed by Luffy’s antics and actually yelled at him. He quickly reminded Luffy who he was – the Sun God, apparently – and told him to let him finish speaking. As they talked, Loki revealed he’d been chained up for six years.

Luffy and Loki’s Deal Could Backfire

It’s no surprise Loki was tired of being chained up, so he made Luffy a deal: he’d destroy any pirate crew Luffy wanted. Loki explained that the Sea Prism Stone weakened him, confirming he ate a Devil Fruit. Unable to escape on his own, he tried to bargain with Luffy, even revealing the key to his release was hidden somewhere in the village. He also warned Luffy that they were currently in a dangerous part of Elbaph called the Underworld, a place only the truly courageous would enter.

Soon after, Luffy was suddenly surrounded by huge creatures, and a group of strangely dressed people emerged as well. They expected the creatures to attack him, but were surprised to see them behaving so gently towards him. It was then that Luffy learned Shanks had previously been to Elbaph.

Luffy was thrilled and rushed over to Loki, immediately peppering him with questions about Shanks and why he was on Elbaph. Instead of answering truthfully, Loki taunted Shanks, calling him a coward. This made Luffy furious, and he instantly transformed into Gear 4th, nearly knocking Loki unconscious with a punch. Loki quickly claimed he was just kidding, but also realized he’d found a weakness in Luffy. When Luffy pressed him again, Loki refused to share the information unless Luffy offered something in return.

Nico Robin’s Reunion With Saul

Later in the episode, viewers saw Nico Robin preparing to meet Saul, someone she knew from her childhood on the island of Ohara. Ohara was destroyed years ago, and Saul seemingly sacrificed himself to help Robin escape. She always believed he had died with the island, but it was recently revealed he survived, which overjoyed her. Now that she’s arrived in Elbaph, she’s finally going to be reunited with him.

In One Piece episode 1161, it was revealed that Nami and her crew were being pursued by giants. Surprisingly, one of these giants, named Goldberg, was actually carrying the Thousand Sunny. Zoro was eager to fight all of them, but Usopp convinced him to focus on getting to the nearest village quickly instead.

This episode continued to build the story and offered some key insights into several characters. The most interesting reveal was the unusual bounty placed on Loki. Given the World Government’s past actions, this decision likely wasn’t random – they probably have a specific plan for him. They might want to recruit Loki, or they could be looking for a way to eliminate him. We’ll probably have to wait a few more episodes to find out for sure. Next week’s episode will focus on all the Straw Hats, so it’s unlikely we’ll get any answers about Loki’s bounty then.
