In the course of the entire series, Levi engages the Beast Titan in battle on three separate instances, though if you exclude the sham fight during the Battle of Liberio, there are only two genuine encounters. The initial confrontation occurs atop a hill outside the Shiganshina District while the Survey Corps were attempting to recapture the area. The second battle takes place deep within the Titan Forest. Here’s how Levi manages to vanquish the fearsome Beast Titan in both instances:

On the hill outside the Shiganshina District, during the Survey Corps’ attempt to retake the district: Levi uses a combination of agility, precision, and strategic planning to outmaneuver the titan. He employs his ODM gear to swiftly traverse the terrain and dodge the titan’s attacks. When an opportunity presents itself, he strikes with deadly precision, targeting vital points on the titan’s body that cause significant damage.
2. Deep within the Titan Forest: In this encounter, Levi once again relies on his agility, precision, and strategic thinking to outsmart the Beast Titan. However, due to the dense forest environment, he must adapt his tactics to accommodate the terrain. Using stealth, he approaches the titan from behind and strikes with surgical precision, aiming for its weak points. He also employs tactical retreats when necessary to avoid being overwhelmed by the titan’s powerful attacks.

Erwin suggests a different approach for Levi as a full-frontal attack would be futile given that the Beast Titan could spot Levi from afar. Instead, he advises Levi to navigate around and employ the colossal Titans as makeshift pillars, guiding him straight to the Beast Titan. Meanwhile, Erwin orders the rest of the Survey Corps members to attack the Beast Titan head-on while releasing signal smoke into the air. This serves as a diversion to draw Zeke’s attention away from Levi and his mission, effectively sacrificing themselves for the greater good.

Due to the smoky haze concealing his actions and Zeke being preoccupied with hurling boulders at the Survey Corps soldiers, he remains oblivious to the fact that Levi has already moved close enough for a fatal attack – until it’s too late. Within barely 60 seconds, Levi manages to vanquish the Beast Titan.

In the Dense Titan Forest Between Wall Rose and Wall Maria

In the thick forest of the Titan Forest, a second confrontation takes place between Levi and the Beast Titan. At this juncture, Levi is holding Zeke captive, oblivious to the fact that his team has already ingested wine mixed with Zeke’s spinal fluid. As soon as Zeke screams out and employs the power of his Founding Titan, every member of Levi’s squad transforms into Titans.

I must admit, this seems like a cunning strategy indeed. By executing it, not only does it appear that most of his captors meet their end, but also presents an opportunity for those Titans to engage Levi in combat. One might think that even someone as formidable as Levi would hesitate to annihilate his own comrades, wouldn’t they? However, let me correct a misconception: this turmoil will not make it easier for Zeke to escape unscathed; quite the contrary.

Following a swift internal struggle with the heavy burden of his obligation, Levi gathers his resolve and takes on the harsh task of alleviating his soldiers’ pain. Without delay, he swiftly eliminates those Titans and quickly catches up to Zeke. This unexpected turn of events left Zeke astounded, and the sight of a battle-hardened Levi, drenched in blood, charging towards him, sent a shiver down Zeke’s spine. Much like their initial encounter, it takes but a moment for Levi to defeat Zeke, who had transformed into his Beast Titan form.

Speed and Agility

Levi’s ability to swiftly and nimbly move through the air gives him an edge in fighting the Beast Titan and other Titans. Many people can utilize the 3D Maneuver Gear, but none can maneuver midair like Levi. As long as his gear operates properly, he will dominate the skies. And with a blade in hand, he can cut through anything effortlessly.

Gliding Through the Sacrificial Titans Near Shiganshina

A significant disadvantage of the 3D Maneuver Gear is that it requires cables to be secured to a sturdy structure. This limitation becomes apparent when there are no such structures available, like in a savanna, rendering the gear almost useless. On the other hand, if there’s a tall object nearby, whether man-made buildings or Titans, the 3D Maneuver Gear can be employed to move its user in any desired direction.

In Levi’s initial battle against the Beast Titan, this strategy was employed: Arranging numerous giant Titans in a straight line, stationary at a set distance from each other, resembles a road for someone equipped with a 3D Maneuver Gear. Given that we’re discussing Levi, he can swiftly eliminate those Titans while effortlessly navigating through them at speeds that surpass human capabilities.

As soon as the Beast Titan recognizes that Levi is close enough to attack, it swiftly attempts to grab Levi with its extended limb. However, Levi swiftly counters by performing his distinctive rolling move, all while moving closer to the Beast Titan’s face at great speed, managing to chop off its arm in the process. He then slices the Beast’s eyes, severs the Achilles tendons on both of its legs, and ultimately forces Zeke out by severely wounding the Beast’s neck. In a matter of mere seconds, Levi successfully subdues the Beast Titan.

Weaving Through the Towering Trees of the Titan Forest

In their second battle, the setting significantly favors Levi, contrasting with their initial encounter where his movement was restricted to one Titan at a time. In a forest teeming with colossal trees stretching as far as the eye can see, such as in the Titan Forest, Levi has unprecedented mobility. He can traverse the area swiftly by attaching cables to two separate trees, and he’s not confined to moving just forward; he can go up, down, left, right, front, or back whenever he chooses.

Instead, this is an incredibly unfavorable location for the Beast Titan. The thick line of trees will significantly obstruct its massive body and elongated limbs. Furthermore, there are no rocks nearby that it could use like a ball, effectively neutralizing its signature throwing technique. To add to the difficulties, the leaves, branches, and shadows make it difficult for him to see clearly. Given that Levi can move faster than ever before while the Beast Titan struggles with both movement and vision, Levi’s victory appears to be all but assured.

To put it simply, Captain Levi consistently beats Zeke’s Beast Titan by unexpectedly attacking rapidly, a pace that the Beast Titan can’t keep up with and counteract. This is the method Levi uses to defeat the Beast Titan not once, but twice.
