Apparently, the cost of parts like RAM and storage is going up, so they’re increasing the price to $499 starting September 1st. The Nintendo Switch 2 Could Be More Expensive Down the Line
Even though the upcoming Switch 2 will cost more than the original NES when adjusted for inflation, Nintendo might still adjust the price. During a recent investor meeting, Nintendo’s president, Furukawa, explained that fluctuating component costs could impact pricing both this year and next. He emphasized the need for Nintendo to be adaptable. He also cautioned that despite the planned price increase for the Switch 2, production costs are still rising, meaning Nintendo will likely continue to sell the console at a loss.

Nintendo’s Upcoming Game Lineup Is the Key to Justifying the Switch 2’s Price
Even though it will cost more to manufacture the new Switch 2, Nintendo’s Furukawa assured customers that the console will offer good value. To encourage existing Switch owners to upgrade, Nintendo plans to release a strong lineup of games this spring and summer, including titles like Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Star Fox, and Splatoon Raiders. More first-party games, such as Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave and Pokemon Winds and Waves, will follow later. The Switch 2 will also benefit from support from other developers, with ports of popular games like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and 007 First Light on the way.
