Summary

  • Nintendo partners with Universal Studios to rent out Alarmo clocks to hotel guests at Universal Studios Japan hotels.
  • Alarmo has seen high demand and will be available in select retail stores starting March 2025.
  • The partnership with Universal Studios Japan ties into the Super Nintendo World park to enhance the fan experience.

Nintendo has teamed up with Universal Studios, allowing them to loan alarm clocks called Alarmo to guests staying at their hotels. This collaboration presents a chance for Nintendo enthusiasts to test out the Alarmo before making a purchase.

One intriguing way Nintendo surprises us is by introducing innovations such as the Nintendo Alarmo. Though Nintendo is renowned for its game consoles and famous video game series like Mario and Zelda, it also demonstrates a knack for being innovative and creative. This can be seen in unique releases like Nintendo Labo or Alarmo, or even unconventional gaming accessories such as the Wii Fit Board.

Nintendo has teamed up with Universal Studios to lend Alarmo devices to guests staying at their hotels starting February 3. This collaboration will be available at all official Universal Studios Japan hotels, involving a total of seven properties. The length of this partnership hasn’t been specified by Nintendo yet. Upon check-in, hotel guests can pick up the Alarmo unit and an AC adapter from the front desk, then proceed to set it up in their own room. There’s no indication that there will be any extra charge for using the Alarmo during this period.

Similar to numerous Nintendo items, the Alarmo has experienced a high level of interest. Although it’s been accessible for purchase online in the west, it’s been limited to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, potentially to minimize excessive reselling. From March 2025, Alarmo will be stocked in certain brick-and-mortar stores, providing more fans with a chance to experiment with it. In Japan, however, the release date for Alarmo in physical stores has been postponed from February to an undisclosed later date.

Although some people view the Alarmo as just a gimmick, it has gained popularity among certain fans, and linking it with Universal Studios Japan seems logical due to its connection to Super Nintendo World. Since Nintendo invites fans to start their day at the park with an Alarmo alarm, waking up to a Nintendo-themed morning before visiting the park. At present, there’s no news about bringing Alarmo to Western parks, but if such collaboration occurs, it may be when Universal Studios Orlando launches Super Nintendo World in late 2025.
