Summary
- Kaigaku’s demonic evolution enhanced his Thunder Breathing, making it more lethal with dark lightning.
- Kaigaku’s Blood Demon Art, Electrokinesis, allowed him to manipulate black lightning and use flesh katana.
- Zenitsu defeated Kaigaku by creating a powerful Thunder Breathing form, leaving him as the sole user of Thunder Breathing.
Previously, Kaigaku had been a pupil of the Hashira mastering Thunder Breathing – Jigoro Kuwajima, alongside Zenitsu. As a skilled ex-Demon Slayer, Kaigaku yearned for more power and sought to grow stronger. In his pursuit, he relinquished his human existence and transformed into a demon.
In contrast to Zenitsu, Kaigaku displayed an exceptional aptitude for mastering nearly all the Thunder Breathing techniques. However, he was known for his overconfidence and haughty demeanor. Transforming into a demon only amplified his strengths, granting him enhanced speed, resilience, and the use of Blood Demon Art. His Thunder Breathing took on a sinister edge, infusing it with dark energy, making it more potent and imbued with a demonic flavor due to his new form.
Kaigaku’s Thunder Breathing and Demonic Evolution
From Demon Slayer to Demon, Kaigauku Chose Evil Over Good

As a transformed demon, Kaigaku’s physique underwent changes to optimize his combat strategies. His Thunder Breathing technique grew deadlier. Being a demon, he acquired distinctive abilities like regeneration and heightened resilience, making him an intimidating figure to confront. Now, his Blood Demon Art, blended with his Thunder Breathing, emits dark lightning, empowering his attacks beyond the original Thunder Breathing’s capabilities. Even seasoned Demon Slayer corps members might struggle to match Kaigaku’s speed, strength, and electrically charged demonic assaults.
To boost his power, Kaigaku consumed numerous humans and combined this with Muzan’s blood, which provided him the extra strength required to grow even stronger. As a student of Jigoro, Kaigaku showcased exceptional swordsmanship and mastery over Thunder Breathing techniques. His Blood Demon Art amplified his swordplay, making him an even greater threat. Due to his control over Blood Demon Art, Kaigaku claimed he could surpass Thunder Breathing because of his ability to manipulate real lightning and electricity. Despite reaching high levels of skill, Kaigaku was unable to learn the foundational Thunder Breathing technique – Thunderclap and Flash. While he could perform all five other Thunder Breathing techniques, he lacked the most crucial one. In contrast, Zenitsu mastered this initial form perfectly. It’s thought that this may have contributed to Kaigaku’s eventual defeat. Zenitsu utilized a unique variation of the Thunder Breathing – First Form against Kaigaku to emerge victorious.
I couldn’t be bothered either way! Is that supposed to make me feel guilty or remorseful? Are you suggesting I should be unhappy because others don’t appreciate me? Frankly, I only prioritize those who recognize my worth.
Kaigaku’s Blood Demon Art – Electrokinesis
Was Kaigaku Truly A Powerful Demo?

I, as an observer, note that Kaigaku’s Blood Demon Art is referred to as Electrokinesis, a unique ability that harmonizes with his Thunder Breathing technique. This skill enables him to produce and control dark-hued electric energy from within his flesh and blood. The potency of this Blood Demon Art is staggering, for he can instigate a devastating effect on opponents, piercing their skin and inflicting severe burns.
Interestingly, Kaigaku shares a similarity with the demon who transformed him (Kokushibo), as they both wield a flesh katana – originally his sword from his days as a Demon Slayer. This corporeal blade allows Kaigaku to orchestrate attacks using his Blood Demon Art, channeling electricity through his blood during an assault.
Kaigaku possessed the ability to perform five Thunder Breathing Forms, each one as strong as the last. In the Infinity Castle Arc, however, it was Zenitsu who outmatched Kaigaku by unleashing a particularly potent Thunder Breathing technique designed specifically to counter Kaigaku. This left Zenitsu as the sole wielder of Thunder Breathing. Unlike most Upper Moons, who had extensive demonic experience, Kaigaku was a relatively new demon, lacking the time to fully master his unique Blood Demon Art. If Zenitsu had waited longer and allowed Kaigaku more time to grow stronger, there might have been an opportunity for Kaigaku to overcome Zenitsu.
