Steal the German’s Treasure in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

In “Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2“, the sequence of minor jobs assigned to Chenyek and his guild offers an effective means for fledgling thieves to accumulate wealth. However, challenges such as The German’s Treasure could pose a bit of confusion, primarily because the game does not provide extensive guidance during questing.

Following your accomplishment of the “Beyond the Grave” mission in KCD2, Rat assigns you another task that revolves around a local innkeeper and their supposed hidden wealth. However, accessing the German’s treasure isn’t as simple as it sounds; instead, expect to put in some effort to reach it.

How to Enter the Tavern Basement in The German’s Treasure Quest

The rat suggests you swipe the keys from Innkeeper Beikovetz in Kuttenberg’s Italian district, as the treasure is hidden in his inn’s basement. Accessing it directly will be difficult due to constant people surrounding the entrance, making lock-picking nearly impossible. But if you have pickpocket skills from Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you could instead lift the keys from the innkeeper himself.

The basement door is right next to the kitchen on the first floor of the inn.

Kuttenberg Underground Route

At night, an alternative route to the Kuttenberg Underground can be accessed by finding its entrypoint, which is situated near a dilapidated tower to the south-east of the city’s southwestern gate. Check your map and you should spot a small entrance if you focus on your own map. The underground access is in proximity to a ruined structure.

As you proceed, stay on the right side of the road. When you arrive at the Wasteyard Point of Interest, locate the adjacent ladder and ascend it. From there, take the path straight ahead, which will guide you to the inn’s basement. Here, you’ll discover a number of miners peacefully sleeping.

Where to Find the German’s Treasure

There are five quest-related items that you can steal here:

  1. A Bloodied Wedding Dress inside a locked chest near a miner’s bed in one corner of the basement.
  2. An Old Painted Statuette in another locked chest in the big room next to the previous one.
  3. An Old Rusty Sword and two maps are hidden behind a loose wall next to the previous chest.

Choose between grabbing everything visible or only the goods stashed away behind the wall. After gathering as much as desired, depart using the hidden tunnel or the regular cellar entrance. But remember, avoid getting detected.

In KCD2, if you find it challenging to open the secure chests due to insufficient Thievery skill, consider using a Picklock Tonic to make the task easier.

Following the search in the cellar, make your way to Innkeeper Helga, the person Rat previously pointed out. Her inn is situated west of Kuttenberg. Have a chat with her and inform her that you’re on the hunt for a big-eyed monkey. If you manage to pass a Persuasion check, she might buy your findings from you despite their apparent worthlessness. Be careful not to offer her the two maps hidden behind the wall as she won’t accept them. Utilize those maps wisely instead.
