Occasionally in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, my character Henry seems to be roaming freely through Bohemia without a worry, which isn’t the experience I was expecting. The “Sphere World” mod by Nexus user Omniscye puts significant work into changing the grim and unforgiving environment of KCD2 into a gentler, more rounded, and plump community of spheres.
In a seemingly frenzied state, Omniscye declares that spherical shapes have become dominant in every aspect of life: animals, humans, and even doors now resemble spheres. “Everything is spheres!” he exclaims, his round eyes hinting at madness. “Immerse yourself in this sphere-centric world! Glide through the sunset as you encounter countless wild spherical forms.
In my initial 70 hours playing KCD2, I hadn’t thought that the game could offer an improved experience if men were invisible and chickens were spheres; however, examining these screenshots leaves me struggling to spot any flaws in their reasoning. It makes one ponder whether life itself would be superior under such conditions, this author muses. Interestingly, Sphere World has been available for two days now, yet only 23 people have downloaded it so far. The list of features suggests there’s more to discover:
- Animals look like spheres. They roll, they bounce, they’re wild.
- Women? Also spheres. Good luck flirting with that.
- Doors are spheres now. How do they even work? Don’t ask.
- Ride through the sunset, dodging or admiring the endless parade of spheres.
- Sip wine with sphere locals. They’re round, they’re friendly, they’re… weird.
- Men are mostly invisible. Radavan’s forge experiments flopped hard.
By the way, it is crucial to be aware of this: “Issues Reported: Snapping a photo in photo mode may cause your game to malfunction or shut down.” A heads-up like that could save the day!
Overcoming my own apprehensions that the game ‘Sphere World’ might irrevocably ruin my 70-hour save file, I decided to give it a try. Let me tell you, there’s no denying its charm: The cute chicken spheres bring a soothing ambiance to village streets following a challenging day of adventure, and the absence of all those men in Kuttenberg certainly makes it more peaceful. I wholeheartedly recommend this game, even if you can always choose to remove it from your devices later on.
I don’t personally recommend it, but you might want to check out No One Cares, which is one of Omniscye’s other 18 KDCD2 mods. In just 27 days since the game’s release, this mod has been created. As its title suggests, No One Cars brings a new dimension to Henry’s peasant struggles by making NPCs reject and ignore him within the society of the game.
In this game scenario, NPCs (Non-Player Characters) will act indifferent towards Henry. No longer will you have to deal with bothersome guards pursuing you for misdeeds or villagers reacting to your actions. It’s as if Henry is invisible in their world! However, rest assured that the NPCs continue with their normal routines; they simply choose to disregard whatever actions you take.
At this moment, you might be questioning if it is possible to undertake quests. Indeed, you have good reason to wonder because, as things stand, it is not feasible. To put it bluntly, they are completely indifferent towards it. In other words, you can’t do quests… and let me emphasize, they could not care less!
Please note that the examples I provided earlier, such as “mod that turns wagons into swords” and “mod that makes the map simply disappear,” should be used with caution in your game for safety reasons. The same general disclaimer applies to all of Omniscye’s work.
If the creativity shown by the Kingdom Come modding community within a single month has me thrilled, I can hardly wait to see what they’ll produce with the upcoming official modding tools!
