As One Piece moves toward the peak of the Elbaf arc and the beginning of the Great War, the series creator, Eiichiro Oda, is starting to reveal more about God Devil Fruits. In the latest chapter, 1182, released in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #24 on May 10th, 2024, Oda introduced Rain God Zaza, establishing another powerful God Devil Fruit ability.
Before introducing Zaza, Oda established Sun God Nika near the story’s climax. Now that Zaza has been revealed, it strongly suggests the existence of a Mythical Zoan fruit, the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza, somewhere in the One Piece world. Based on clues throughout the story and character development, I believe this fruit will likely end up with the Straw Hat Pirates, becoming the power of the final member to join the crew after the battle in Elbaf.
One Piece Chapters 1182 And 287 Set Up Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza As The Next Straw Hat Devil Fruit
At first, the idea of incredibly powerful, almost god-like Devil Fruits in One Piece seemed unbelievable. When the series began, Devil Fruit powers were relatively simple, especially as the characters entered the Grand Line. However, the story has evolved, and creator Eiichiro Oda has started introducing abilities that feel truly divine. This shift began in the Wano Country Arc, specifically with chapter 1044, released on March 28, 2022. That’s when we learned Monkey D. Luffy’s fruit, previously known as the Gomu Gomu no Mi, was actually the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. This reveal immediately connected to a major introduction from the Skypiea Arc, chapter 287, where Oda officially presented four gods – the Sun God, the Rain God, the Earth God, and the Forest God – to the One Piece world.
I overheard the Shandian elder pleading to their gods – the sun, the rain, the forest, and the earth – begging them to accept this woman’s blood as a sacrifice and protect our village from whatever calamity was coming. It was a desperate plea, full of hope and fear.
The introduction of the Sun God sparked the idea that other Gods might actually exist within the world of One Piece. Now, in chapter 1182, creator Eiichiro Oda has officially revealed the Rain God Zaza, brought to life through the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Kirin, which is possessed by Rimoshifu Killingham. This strongly suggests that a Mythical Zoan fruit called the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza, must exist somewhere in the One Piece universe.
Since this Devil Fruit hasn’t been mentioned before, no one currently possesses its power. However, with the author introducing it now, it’s probable someone will obtain it soon. According to comments from chapter 1182, the fruit likely belongs to an opponent of the World Government. This is supported by the revelation in chapter 1044 that Zoan Devil Fruits have their own sentience. The Rain God Zaza fruit specifically seems to desire opposing the World Government and supporting Sun God Nika.
I overheard the Five Elders speaking, and they seemed genuinely worried. They were saying it’s almost like the Devil Fruit itself is trying to get away from them. Apparently, Zoan-type fruits have a will of their own, and this one… this one is different. They revealed its true name isn’t the Gum Gum Fruit at all. It’s actually the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika.
Why Zaza Is A Straw Hat Ally In The Final Saga
Rain God Zaza is poised to become an enemy of the World Government and Nerona Imu because of something Killingham revealed. In Chapter 1182 of One Piece, Killingham and Sommers recalled childhood stories about Zaza, a Rain God who was said to flood the world. These stories instilled fear in all Celestial Dragons – a fear comparable to what they feel towards Sun God Nika and those with the ‘D’ initial in their names. This establishes Rain God Zaza as a direct threat to the Celestial Dragons, and particularly to Nerona Imu.
We grew up in a sky-high land, far above the clouds. Rain was something we were taught to fear! After stories of the people of D and Nika, the biggest warning we received was about a monster in the world below – the Rain God, who supposedly pours water down on you. — Saint Killingham, One Piece Chapter 1182
Considering the Five Elders’ claim that Zoan Devil Fruits possess their own will, it’s likely the Rain God Zaza Devil Fruit belongs to someone who opposes the World Government. This would make the Rain God a potential ally to the Straw Hat Pirates in the upcoming war. It’s even possible this Devil Fruit will ultimately be wielded by a new member of the Straw Hat crew – specifically, Nefertari Vivi.

Nefertari Vivi Is The Prime Candidate To Wield The Power Of Zaza As The Last Straw Hat
Currently, Nefertari Vivi is the most likely candidate to gain the power of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza. The author, Eiichiro Oda, has consistently hinted that Vivi is destined to become a Straw Hat Pirate. When Vivi left the crew in chapter 216, she expressed a desire to rejoin them in the future, suggesting a planned reunion. Furthermore, One Piece officially acknowledges Vivi as an honorary member, making her the most probable candidate to officially rejoin the crew.
“I plan on remaining here. But if fate brings us together again, will you still consider me your friend, your fellow crew member?” — Nefertari Vivi, One Piece Chapter #216
Perhaps most notably, in Chapter 1130 of the Elbaf arc – released in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #47 on October 21, 2024 – Vivi directly messaged Monkey D. Luffy, arranging to meet him again during the Final Saga.
Robin noticed something strange while looking at Vivi’s message to Luffy. When Luffy transforms, does that ‘X’ symbol always show up on his arm? It didn’t seem right to her—his hands were blurry, but the mark was perfectly clear.
My main concern about Vivi rejoining the Straw Hats is her current lack of strength. But if she were to gain the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza, that issue would be resolved. It’s likely Vivi will be the one to get this Devil Fruit because Rain God Zaza appears in response to prayers for rain, as confirmed in chapter 1182. And there’s only one nation in One Piece that desperately needs rain: Arabasta. This suggests the fruit previously belonged to someone from Arabasta, possibly Nefertari Lily.
I watched as he materialized, seemingly in time with the desperate pleas for rain… it was Rain God Zaza! – as Saint Killingham was known in this chapter of One Piece, number 1182.
In Japanese, Vivi is known as the “Blue-haired Princess,” and the concepts of water and the color blue are strongly connected to both her character and the Rain God Zaza. Her spiritual animal, the Peacock, also represents these elements, suggesting a direct link to water-based abilities. Considering all of this, Vivi is the most logical character to possess the Zaza Devil Fruit. If she were to join the Straw Hat Pirates and gain its power, she would become the second member with a ‘god-like’ ability, alongside another powerful crewmate.
There’s a fascinating theory that Chopper might actually be the Forest God, hinting at a powerful alliance of gods forming within the Straw Hat Pirates to oppose Nerona Imu, the World Government’s ruler. Whether or not that’s true, it seems likely the Straw Hats will gain several god-like powers as the story progresses, and I’m excited to see what happens next.
