- Min Byung-Gyu’s compassionate personality makes his shocking and heartbreaking death the highlight of the episode.
The Korean Hunters Association has finally commenced the fourth raid on Jeju Island. The flesh-eating ants in Solo Leveling have claimed the lives of several humans, including some powerful S-Rank Hunters. It was too big of a threat to be handled by Korean Hunters alone, so they reached out for help from Hunters around the world.
Fortunately, the Hunters Association of Japan answered their call, and this time, Korea had a slightly better chance of winning this war against the Hybrid Ants. The plan was rather simple — Japanese Hunters would distract the Ants’ army while the S-Rank Korean Hunters would kill the Ant Queen. All was going as per plan until the arrival of the Ant King, who slaughters several S-Rank Hunters in a single hit.
The Ant King Annihilates Several S-Rank Hunters On Jeju Island
Min Byung-Gyu’s Death Was The Most Heartbreaking One
The Ant King is clearly way more powerful than the Queen Ant, and that is evident from the fact that the Hybrid Ant was able to kill several S-Rank Hunters without breaking a sweat. Initially, the Ant King targets the Japanese Hunters who are fighting out in the open. The S-Rank Hunters, who were arrogantly having fun killing the ants, couldn’t even notice the Ant King’s presence until one of them lost their heads. The Ant King clearly enjoyed slaughtering the Japanese Hunters, but he had to shift his focus towards the Korean Hunters after the Queen’s death.
Before Cha Hae-In delivers the killing blow, the Queen calls out to its children, including the Ant King. The King was born recently, so no one knew of his existence; otherwise, they wouldn’t have arrived at the island no matter what. Regardless, the Hunters are already on the island, and there’s no way they can escape the wrath of Ant King. Cha Hae-In surprised everyone by slashing each part of the Queen’s body and ultimately killing her, but that heroic deed made her the first target of the Ant King. The Hybrid Ant moves past every other Hunter and lands the first hit on Cha Hae-In, who couldn’t even lift a finger to prevent the attack.
Our queen is dead, and avenging our loss by killing your troops won’t bring her back. Now, where is your king? – The Ant Colony to Baek Yoonho.
Cha Hae-In is rendered useless after just one hit, so the Ant King moves his attention toward other S-Rank Hunters. Baek Yoonho, Choi Jong-In, Ma Dongwook, and Lim Tae-Gyu put up a great fight against the King, but even their collective efforts didn’t amount to anything. At this point, the only thing that was keeping these hunters alive was Min Byung-Gyu, the S-Rank Healer from Korea.
Min Byung-Gyu had participated in the previous raid on Jeju Island, where he saw a close friend die brutally. Consequently, when Baek Yoonho proposed another mission, Byung-Gyu declined because he couldn’t bear the violence and loss of life that being a hunter entailed. Earlier, Byung-Gyu had expressed his intention to switch careers due to the emotional toll. Yet, at the last minute, Byung-Gyu made an unexpected decision and chose to join his friend on their journey back to Jeju Island.

Min Byung-Gyu was healing the other hunters while using his camouflage ability to stay hidden from the Ant King. However, the Hybrid Ant senses Byung-Gyu’s presence and kills him instantly. While Byung-Gyu utters his last words and tells Yoonho to run, the King eats off his head.
Min Byung-Gyu was a caring individual who truly valued people. It was his bond with Yoonho that motivated him to participate in the raid. Even a brief chat with Yoonho made us admire the character. The fact that he chose to join the operation despite being terrified out of his wits set him apart from other top-tier Hunters. This is why his demise was the most shocking and heartrending event in the entire episode.
The Ant King Leaves The Nest To Fight Goto Ryuji
He Wants To Fight The Strongest Human Warrior On The Island
After breaking our hearts by killing Min Byung-Gyu, the Ant King humiliates Baek Yoonho and tells him that he is too weak. He asks Yoonho about their King, which isn’t really a thing with humans, but the Hybrid Ant believes that there is a Human King, and he could be the strongest warrior among humans. Before Yoonho could answer, the Ant sensed the presence of Goto Ryuji, who was, in fact, the strongest Hunter on the island at the time.
The Ant King then leaves the Korean Hunters inside the nest and charges on to fight Goto. Goto is clearly powerful; he isn’t called Japan’s most lethal living weapon for nothing. However, even Goto realizes that the enemy standing in front of him is too much for him to handle. While the Ant King dashes towards Goto, the S-Rank Hunter recalls his fight against Jinwoo, confirming that he felt the same amount of energy force while fighting Jinwoo. Even though we haven’t seen it on-screen yet, it’s clear that Goto loses against the Ant King.
Fighting Goto will only disappoint the Ant King, but fortunately, Jinwoo has finally arrived on the battlefield. The Hybrid Ant has sparked fear in every hunter’s heart for now, but it’s about time that Korean people learn that a godly warrior like Jinwoo is on their side.
