After a gap of over seven years, a new Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, has arrived in cinemas. It brings the popular character Din Djarin (known as The Mandalorian) from the Disney+ series to the big screen, along with his adorable companion, Grogu – affectionately nicknamed “Baby Yoda” due to his resemblance to the iconic Yoda.
Gamers are already familiar with cute aliens! Several video game creatures are just as adorable as Grogu. Some are baby aliens, while others are naturally cute adults. Either way, these charming characters can compete with even the most beloved cute characters, like Grogu.
Nix (Star Wars Outlaws)
Cute Aliens And Star Wars Are Synonymous
In the world of Star Wars, meet Nix, a key character in Star Wars Outlaws, a new open-world stealth-action game from Ubisoft. Many feel this game doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. Nix is Kay’s faithful sidekick – a cute, dog-like creature resembling an axolotl – who accompanies her on her journey, offering both help and plenty of humor.

Nix is a helpful sidekick in battles, creating diversions, stealing items, helping take down enemies as a team, and triggering traps. He can even cheat at cards by secretly showing you what your opponents are holding! Beyond his skills, Nix is also a vital part of the story and closely connected to Kay’s history and personality. Many think Nix is as adorable as Grogu, and he’s a strong contender for the title of cutest character in Star Wars. Don’t forget to reward him with a treat or two!
The Prince (Katamari Damacy)
Rolling Into Our Hearts
Next up is The Prince, the main character from Katamari Damacy. He’s the son of the King of All Cosmos, who’s basically a god, and has a bit of a problem: the King got drunk and accidentally destroyed all the stars! Now, The Prince has to travel to Earth and roll up everything he can find so his father can rebuild them. It’s a huge job for someone so small.
What really gets me about The Prince is just how small he is! He starts rolling his Katamari with everything tiny, and even as it gets bigger and bigger, he stays the same size. Honestly, it’s ridiculously cute. And his little face – always scrunched up – and that silly alien suit? It’s the same thing that makes everyone love Grogu, you know? It just hits you right in the feels and makes you want to protect him!
Baby Metroid (Metroid)
You’re Too Cute To Be Evil
- Appears in: Metroid 2: Return of Samus, Metroid: Samus Returns, Super Metroid
It seems like cute babies are a recurring theme! Before getting his official name in the second season of The Mandalorian, the character Grogu was popularly known as “Baby Yoda.” Now, we’re continuing that trend by introducing our next contender: Baby Metroid, the lovable young form of a famous alien enemy from video games.
The Baby Metroid plays a key role in Metroid: Samus Returns, a remake of Metroid 2: Return of Samus. Throughout the game, it follows Samus and assists her by destroying tough, unbreakable crystal barriers. Because Samus is the first thing the Baby Metroid sees after hatching, it believes she is its mother. When the villain, Proteus Ridley, tries to capture the Baby Metroid at the end of the game, players are naturally compelled to protect it.
Kirby (Kirby)
Kirby Isn’t Just An Alien; He’s A Tiny, Pink, All-Powerful Being
- Appears in (Mainline): Kirby’s Dream Land, Kirby’s Adventure, Kirby’s Dream Land 2, Kirby Super Star, Kirby’s Dream Land 3, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, Kirby: Squeak Squad, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land, Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Kirby: Planet Robobot, Kirby Star Allies, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Kirby Air Riders
Kirby is arguably the most adorable video game character ever created. He’s a round, pink puffball with the sweetest rosy cheeks! Given that he travels between planets on a star, it’s safe to say he’s not from around here – he must be an alien!
Kirby is more than just an alien – he’s incredibly powerful. Consider this: what could actually defeat him? He’s essentially made of goo, he can copy abilities from anyone he meets, and he can even turn into stone for defense. The Kirby games actually have a surprisingly rich backstory that reveals just how strong he is. Does this make him even cuter? Not necessarily, but it does place him in the same league as Grogu – both are deceptively powerful aliens that people often underestimate.
Pikmin (Pikmin)
Squad Goals
- Appears in (Mainline): Pikmin, Pikmin 2, Pikmin 3, Hey! Pikmin, Pikmin 4
It’s not just one alien – it’s a whole species! And it’s hard to deny how cute Pikmin are, both individually and as a group. Their small size definitely contributes, but it’s also their bright colors, little leaf-like antennae, high-pitched voices, and amazing teamwork that make them so endearing.
After crash-landing on their planet, Captain Olimar encounters tiny creatures he calls “Pikmin,” inspired by a type of carrot from his home. Though small and needing constant guidance to work together, Pikmin are surprisingly effective at completing tasks, occasionally stumbling along the way. Despite their size, they’ll even fearlessly fight off enemies.
Cutie Hubie (High On Life)
So Cute You Just Want To Destroy His Home
Let’s be real: Cutie Hubie isn’t adorable in a natural way—he’s intentionally trying to be. It’s a strange difference, but it matters. Truly cute characters, like Grogu, just feel huggable—their cuteness is magnetic and draws you in. Cutie Hubie, however, forces his cuteness on you, and that’s where it crosses the line into being a little unsettling. And that’s exactly what the creators were going for.
You’ll meet Hubie in Cutie Town, a small side area in High on Life that you reach using a warp disk. He’s thrilled to see you at first, welcoming you to his tiny town. However, because you’re a normal size, you accidentally destroy Cutie Town as you walk around. This leads Hubie to launch into a lengthy, sad speech, eventually pleading with you to end his life. It’s a surprising turn of events, made even more impactful by how endearing Hubie is – he truly lives up to his name!
