The long-awaited raid on Jeju Island in Season 2 of Solo Leveling has begun! The strongest hunters from both Japan and Korea have united to confront a menace that has been troubling Korea for quite some time. Although Jinwoo chooses not to participate in the Jeju Island raid, the Korean Hunters Association presses on with their mission to eliminate the hybrid ants once and for all.
The elite S-Rank Hunters performed exceptionally well on the island, ultimately delivering the fatal strike to Queen Ant. But, the situation took a turn when the Ant King arrived, swiftly eliminating numerous hunters with just one strike. This newcomer then penetrated the nest, immediately heading for the slain Queen Ant’s remains while disregarding the Hunters obstructing his path.
The Ant King Unleashes Wrath Upon Korean Hunters After Queen’s Death
He Eats Queen’s Brain To See Who Exactly Killed Her
In the course of their mission, the elite Korean Hunters excelled in isolating the queen from her ant colony. Meanwhile, Japanese Hunters managed to distract the army. As planned, the top-tier Korean Hunters then penetrated the nest with the objective of eliminating the queen. Initially, the hunters assumed that without their queen, the ants would perish within a year. However, what none had foreseen was the emergence of something unprecedented – the Ant King.
In a scene outside their nest, the Ant King taunted the Japanese hunters, enjoying himself immensely until he heard the desperate call of the Queen. Abruptly ending his amusement, he flew back towards the nest where he encountered Korean hunters. Instead of immediately obliterating the intruders, the Ant King approached the slain Queen and consumed her brain matter. This behavior from the Ant King may have shocked some viewers, but it aligns perfectly with the complex nature of the Hybrid ant character. It seems that by eating the Queen’s brain, the Ant King aimed to uncover who had struck the fatal blow through her memories.
As a loyal subject, I’ve lost my revered leader, our esteemed Queen. Avenge her not by slaying my troops, for no number of lives can compensate for this grave loss. Now, I implore you, where is your King? Let us settle this conflict between our nations with the wisdom of our rulers, not through bloodshed.
After consuming the brains of its prey, the Ant King appears to gain knowledge about them. For instance, it managed to speak the human language after devouring Min Byung-Gyu’s head. Therefore, it was crucial for him to eat the Queen’s brain to discover who had caused her demise. Upon doing so, he likely felt the suffering the Queen endured following her slashing by Cha Hae-In. This is why he erupted in rage and advanced towards Cha Hae-In.
Certainly, there was an opportunity for him to eliminate every Hunter present without a second thought, focusing instead on finding the Queen’s murderer. However, it’s puzzling as to why he consumed the Queen’s brain. The reasoning behind this action might be that the Ant King was fiercely loyal to the Queen, and sought to dishonor and torment those involved in her demise. The Hybrid Ant aimed to deny the Hunters swift deaths; instead, he desired to instill fear and make it clear to humans that they were being penalized for their actions.
The Ant King Wants To Take Revenge By Killing The Strongest Hunter On The Island
That Is Why He Seeks The King Of Humans
Following the demise of the Queen, the Ant King became enraged and it was Cha Hae-In who initially felt his fury, having delivered the fatal strike against the Ant. In retaliation, the King publicly shamed other top-tier Hunters present with his immense power. Previously, the Hybrid Ant had effortlessly eliminated Japanese Hunters in a single blow, but this was not the case against Korean Hunters. Given that Korean S-Rank Hunters were believed to be responsible for the Queen’s death, the Ant King decided to mete out a painful punishment by targeting them one by one.
The Ant King concluded that these Hunters were no match for him, and merely vanquishing common soldiers wouldn’t have been sufficient to avenge the Queen. So, he inquired from Yoonho about their leader, assuming that this human leader would be akin to their King. He could sense a more powerful human presence outside of the nest, who happened to be Goto Ryuji at the moment.
In my excitement, I found myself engaged in an intriguing conversation with the Ant King, who inquired if I was the ruler of humans. With a sense of pride or indifference, I conceded to his title for me. At that moment, I was the island’s strongest human, and my refusal could have been a source of satisfaction for the Ant King. Thus, without a moment’s hesitation, I unleashed my intimidating presence and lunged towards the high-ranking Japanese Hunter, ready for battle.
Despite the fact that Goto’s on-screen demise wasn’t shown in the last episode, it’s clear that he has met his end. The Ant King swiftly defeats the Hunter with only two blows, but now he must prepare for his upcoming battle against Jinwoo, who is fated to become the Shadow Monarch and wield Ashborn’s powers in Solo Leveling.
