It’s tough to say goodbye to a game like Destiny 2. Despite its challenges, it provided a lot of fun for players who love games where you collect lots of loot. While nothing can completely fill the void Destiny 2 leaves, there are other great games available. The key is to think about what you enjoyed most in Destiny 2 and then find a game that offers a similar experience.

I’m not going to give you a long list here. Instead, I’ll focus on three games that feel similar to Destiny 2. While none are exactly the same, each one offers enough fresh content to be a good alternative.

Helldivers 2 isn’t like games such as Destiny 2 where you endlessly collect gear. Instead, it focuses on exciting, action-packed gameplay that grabs your attention right away. The game has a harsh and unforgiving atmosphere, with enemies – whether they’re bugs or robots – attacking from all directions. But the chaos comes from the enemies themselves; you play as a regular soldier just trying to make it through the day with some powerful weapons. It’s a consistently fun experience, and missions are especially enjoyable when played with friends.

Once you’ve gotten into the game, progress mainly comes from gaining levels and collecting resources to unlock new weapons, armor, and ship upgrades. Eventually, you’ll unlock everything, and how long you continue playing will depend on how much fun you’re having. While it’s quite different from Destiny 2, I still wanted to mention it because some of the character customization options and spaceship battles feel reminiscent of Destiny 2. Most importantly, Helldivers 2 really makes you feel like you’re in space and battling aliens.

It’s understandable to feel overwhelmed and behind when starting out, especially when comparing yourself to long-time players. Keep in mind that new players naturally have less than those who’ve been playing for years. There’s a lot to learn – new game mechanics, items, and currencies – but don’t feel pressured to catch up quickly. Warframe is designed to be played at your own speed. You can always access older content to get key items whenever you’re ready, and you can ignore complex systems until you have time to learn them.

I’ll be honest, Warframe‘s super-fast action just wasn’t for me – I really prefer games where I can slow down and think things through. That’s why I never really got into all the other cool stuff the game has to offer. One of the best things about The Division 2 is how much freedom you have in creating your character. You can specialize in different roles – like sniping from a distance, leading the charge in combat, providing support to your team, focusing on technical skills, or even healing others. Your character’s build is determined by the weapons and equipment you choose. This encourages players to spend time collecting and upgrading gear, and you can even focus on getting specific items as rewards from completing missions. This creates a rewarding endgame experience that feels similar to what Destiny 2 offers.

A big part of playing The Division 2 comes after you finish the main story. The game is designed around repeating activities to improve your character.
