007 First Light Debuts First 13 Minutes of Gameplay

IO Interactive has released the first 13 minutes of gameplay for their new James Bond game, 007 First Light. They shared the footage after some of it was leaked online. The studio did warn players that the video might spoil the beginning of the game if they prefer to experience it fresh.

Okay, so the beginning of 007 First Light totally surprised me. I was expecting a huge explosion or car chase right away, you know, classic Bond. But nope! Instead, it starts really slow and sneaky. It feels a lot like playing a Hitman game, actually. You’re playing as Bond, hiding in the rain, carefully picking off enemies and trying not to get spotted. It’s a stealth section, and honestly, it’s a really cool change of pace.

While the current experience is somewhat modest, IO Interactive is probably holding back the most exciting moments for the complete game. This is just a glimpse of Bond’s abilities – and a good reminder of how easily he could become a darker, more intense character, much like Batman.

The official description of 007 First Light reads:

Experience the beginning of James Bond’s journey as he enters MI6 and learns the ropes as a new recruit. This story reveals how the world-famous spy first joined the elite Double 0 program after a brave act during his time as a naval air crewman. When a mission to take down a dangerous agent goes wrong, young Bond must team up with his hesitant mentor, Greenway, to uncover a hidden plot and prevent a power grab that threatens the government.
